The past week’s list, which highlights some of the rich variety of tactics Russian propaganda makes…

I do not use Google+ much. Please, connect rather via Facebook, LinkedIn, Academia.edu, Livejournal, or/and XING which I use more regularly for professional and semi-private communication. Please, do not make private statements, open to the public, on the walls of my sites. Thank you!

I study contemporary Russian and Ukrainian politics with a focus on the post-Soviet extreme right at the National University of Kyiv - Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA), a small, but prolific Ukrainian higher education institution (http://www.ukma.kiev.ua/ua/faculties/fac_soc/politology/index.php  ), and the Eichstaett Institute for Central and East European Studies (ZIMOS), a miniscule, yet productive Bavarian research center focusing on current Russian intellectual history (http://www1.ku-eichstaett.de/ZIMOS/  ). Since 2005, I have been also involved in the creation, in Ukraine, of a new Master's program in German and European Studies administered jointly by Kyiv's Mohyla Academy and Jena's Schiller University (http://www.des.uni-jena.de/ ).

Most of my academic and semi-scholarly publications are available here: http://ku-eichstaett.academia.edu/AndreasUmland/Papers . My books are listed here: http://ku-eichstaett.academia.edu/AndreasUmland/Books .

If interested, please, do not hesitate to join the groups "Russian Nationalism" (links lists, papers, listserv & newsletter) at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/russian_nationalism/ , "Researchers of Russian Nationalism" (networking, updates & discussion) at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=157897 , and "Researchers of Historical and Neo-Fascism" (networking, updates & discussion) at http://www.linkedin.com/e/vgh/1640147/ as well as at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=52910686741 .

I would be glad to hear from people with similar research interests, and from those wanting to publish their dissertations, monographs, edited volumes or document collections in the English- and German-language book series "Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society" where 100 volumes were published in 2004-2010 (http://www.ibidem-verlag.de/spps.html ). Among the particular (but not only) foci of this series are Russian nationalism (http://www.amazon.com/gp/blog/post/PLNK38GJQXL0CN9AM ), post-communist politics (http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/listmania/byauthor/ABDE6L94T5H8R/ ), and higher education in CEE or the NIS (http://www.amazon.de/Higher-Education-in-Eastern-Europe-English-language-Books/lm/R3BBCQE249Q9D3/ ).

ZIMOS's web journal "Forum noveishei vostochnoevropeiskoi istorii i kul'tury" (http://www1.ku-eichstaett.de/ZIMOS/forumruss.html ) invites Russian-language scholarly papers in the fields of contemporary East European history, post-Soviet politics, and Eurasian cultural studies.

If you have worked in Eastern Europe or the NIS, I would be interested in comments, additions and corrections concerning the guide "Teach at a university in the former Soviet bloc" at http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/syltguides/fullview/REKTGK0DL1N8F/ . (Additional German-language literature can be found here: http://www.amazon.de/Das-Hochschulwesen-Osteuropas-deutschspr-Bücher/lm/R1GDNZU1JWNJYP/ .)
