Decay and young life. Opposites again – and some shadows too :). The Song of the Day is “Dirty Window Of Opportunity” by Woods of Ypres. Hear it on YouTube. Posted by andreas at 8:00 pm Tagged with: Architecture, Austria, Flower, Olympus OM-D E-M1, Spring, Vienna, Wien, Window ...

Even for April's standards we had some pretty freaky weather situations here. Sunshine mixed with rain and two or three times hail per day. Here's one of the better moments :). Btw, this image is currently doing very well on Flickr. I wouldn't mind if you gave it some additional love.

These houses may have been built in the fifties or sixties. I don't know, in any case it's been a long time since. Two apartments, door to door, each with a cellar, a first floor, maybe an attic and a small garden on each side. Once this kind of architecture may have seemed cramped for someone ...

It's pretty hard to get an image like this “right”. Were the colors more saturated? Sure. Did I try to bring that on screen? Oh yes! Did I fail? You bet :D. In the end I used a much cooler color temperature than I'd have expected, just to keep detail in the overwhelmimg yellow.

Sometimes I ask myself why I see what I see, but – professional photographer or not – as soon as you take images for a few years, you begin to see what other people don't. It's inevitable :). The Song of the Day is “Space Invaders” by Irie Souls. Hear it on YouTube.

Perspective correction alone did not work in this image. Due to the heavy weight of the right-hand side I had to let it lean in to the center. Really :). The Song of the Day is “Clarity” by Corey Gray. Hear it on YouTube. Posted by andreas at 8:00 pm Tagged with: Architecture, Austria, ...

The organic shapes of tree's shadows on man-made structures always fascinate me. It is like one image blended into another. Soft and hard, natural and artificial, all in one image. The Song of the Day is “Shadow Of The Trees” by Mungo Jerry. Hear it on YouTube.

This is the start of a longer series. Colorful “totem poles” in a park, in warm, late afternoon sidelight, what would be not to love about it? The first one is for context. The Song of the Day is “Totem Pole” by Lee Morgan. Hear it on YouTube. Posted by andreas at 8:00 pm Tagged with: Art, ...

You may ask yourself how the software release turned out that I was talking about and that I'd suspected it would eat most of my time. Well, just as expected, mostly really well, but as soon as things get big, even the load of a successful release gets quickly overwhelming.
