I fixed the broken parts form last video and moved a glass of water. I also started building a new case for the electronic. For this I used laser cut parts, I made in the local Fablab.

Great work.. I'm excited that you already have implemented ROS. There is real potential for a affordable and capable robot arm with your design. I will start printing.. but I would love to see this project go into some form of production with mold injected parts.

Got my Leapfrog yesterday, a few more tunings and the first real thing I will try to build is exactly this robot arm. Thank you so much Andreas. :-)

Looking good Andreas! That "spider" on the bottom of the base joint looks like a big weak point. I'm sure next week you'll have a new printed shoulder and have it picking up your coffee! Keep up the good work.

Here are the stl files of my gripper from my robot arm project
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:661286

You can find all about my robot arm project at my youtube channel

So, Cheers
This is the first version of the gripper for my robot arm project. I used 3mm carbon fiber rods as shaft. They are cheap easy to cut, strong and light. The motors are 16mm DC geared motors with 180 rmp anything from 100-200 should work fine. They are also quite cheap. To improve the grip I used some rubber foam (in german Mosgummi). +Andreas Hölldorfer for the magnetic encoders, for mine they sell press fit magnetic targets (axial and radial) that goes over a 10mm shaft. Your chip/sensor can then be mounted axially or radially.

Your 3d printer has just one extruder, right?  I was wondering how close you could get to this design using a dual extruder (Nylon or ABS + Filaflex).

Some preview of my new base, that houses all the electronics of my robot arm. A new video will follow soon.

Hi Andreas, I am interested in your project and I have (at least for now) two questions:

1. The orange base has a distinct design to blue, My question is, the other orange parts change your design or They are equals that blue parts.

2. The encoder, you use a AS5045B, I have seen your Printed borad, but I don´t know that are the two elements that you connect a the AS5045B, Are they magnets?¿Could you tell me?

Thanks you very much
