They are just a small subset of hardworking farmers in the United States. Many more exist in other countries with similarly strong farming traditions. I would encourage the Smithsonian writers to actually talk to modern farmers on large farms and see how they educate themselves about the products and techniques they use on their farms and how INTERESTED they are in saving the land for future generations to enjoy.´╗┐
