Indeed some good advice!

"If you have dreams, it's your responsibility to make them happen."

How we sabotage our own success:
All of us want to invent that game-changing product, launch that successful company, write that best-selling book. And yet so few of us actually do it. TED Fellow and Brazilian entrepreneur Bel Pesce breaks down five easy-to-believe myths that ensure your dream projects will never come to fruition.

Cool connection between new and vintage

Couldn't decide - should this go under "Curiosities" or "Portable Devices"?
Large in physical size, not in storage capacity. Computer enthusiast Christopher Parish modified a vintage “DEC RL02” drive—as big as a decent PC case—from the 70s so it can connect to modern PCs via USB. Technically this might be the largest and the heaviest USB storage device in the world.

HBO + Isaac Asimov
Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy is being in development to HBO and it's said to become a TV series. Foundation and HBO in the same sentence sounds great, right? Add Jonathan Nolan, the mastermin...

The Great Divergence - will America break? Very good talk, if you can spare the time. The state of play with inequality (of income, of wealth and of opportunity,) how it's developed, why it's developed, and what to do about it. People do think inequality is bad: it goes hand in hand with reduced social mobility and it offends a natural sense of fairness and other American values. He doesn't go so far as to say there will be riots in the streets, I think, but points out that the New Deal came about because of a view that the US had got, or was headed for, having an aristocracy much like Old Europe.  Or for some dangerous demagogues to be elected.  And we're about back at that kind of level of inequality.

(I think much of this applies to the Western world generally, but the US is further along with a divided and unfair society. And with militarisation of police - what a coincidence!)

Note: This is a long read. Feel free to scroll to the pictures and video below to get a vague sense of how things went down. Let me tell you about a game I made with the sole intention of watching it...

Part 3 in the history of the Amiga. From how a bean-counter saved its HAM (hold-and-modify) mode to its splashy debut followed by a hard crash back to reality, near-Commodore bankruptcy and the closing of the west coast Amiga branch of Commodore. And, of course, the fight with the ST.

ISS astronaut takes Star Trek selfie. That's an 11 on a scale of 10 on the epic nerdscale :)
An ISS astronaut took what might be the most epic 'Star Trek' selfie ever.
