Volunteers are going door to door to provide pet food and other supplies in areas battered by Sandy. They're also rescuing cats and dogs lost after the storm to reunite them with their families or ensure adoption. Watch Randi Kaye's report:

The absolute worst part of the Category 4 hurricane which affected me in 2004 was being separated from my pet for a week, and not knowing if he was okay.  (I finally found him)  Bless those who are willing to help bring some peace of mind to so many who are stressed beyond belief and missing their companions.

So many lives affected. Glad to see that people are looking after lost  pets as well. I can only imagine the worry for the pet owners in the midst of the crisis.
Oh, that story is just heartbreaking!  They are helpless animals.
