Themers

There's no denying that one of the coolest things about Android is that you can customize it as you see fit. You don't like an icon, you install an icon pack. Don't like the launcher, change it. Don't like the theme then you change it. The list goes on and on and even more so when you're rooted.

Being a DU user, you can customize things even further than your average root user. You can change the navbar to work and look exactly like you had envision before #SmartBar and #Pulse rolled into the Android scene. If you want to swipe to navigate you or if you want a certain action in the navbar you can have that too and the possibilities are endless. I can literally can talk about this all day it I won't :-p

One cool thing I want to point out is the ability to use icon packs to replace the icons without using themes in the navbar. +Randall Rushing of course wrote this not long ago and he mentioned it a while back when he merged it into DU but besides +Jay Rod, I'm not seeing a lot of love there.

What I mean is that I don't see a lot of navbar-like icons in icon packs. I understand that MOST ROMs don't have a need for it so is something you probably have not bother to make or include. I want to change that.

I think a lot of DU users and even users of other ROMs that have adopted #SmartBar and the entire DUI package, would love this. Even if is a separate pack, we would like to be able to use icons specifically made for use on the navbar.

Icons for actions beyond just apps. Things like back, home, recents, last app, extended desktop, flashlight, etc

Think about it!

From a business stand point, this is something that could help you bring in some more $$$

OPPO’s AOSP ROM: Interview about a Delightful OPPOrtunity - At the Big Android Barbecue 2015, we had the pleasure of checking out OPPO’s latest efforts in ROM making — an AOSP ROM that sits in stark contrast with their traditional software offerings. With said AOSP ROM, OPPO aims to provide the software that power users, enthusiasts and developers around the world would love on OPPO devices. Moreover, said ROM comes at a time when OPPO is expanding internationally on a new level and scale f...

AOSP and "production ready" is something completely impossible - especially now with google monthly releases. All must adapt to that change.

I've seen a few postings from developers here asking about problems with some users having devices where Google Play Services on the Android Wear device is out of date (typically version 8.x instead of 9.x).

You can determine your version on Android Wear by going to Settings ... About ... Versions ... Google Play Services. It should start with a 9, and not 7 or 8. If it is 7 or 8 you have a stuck device.

I'm trying to understand what the cause of this problem is, so we can get it fixed. Most developers don't have the problem on their own devices, but occasionally they are being contacted by users of their apps who are reporting problems. If you hear from a user with a problem, I would like to get a bug report from them so we can analyze and then help fix it.

We need bug reports captured from both the phone and wearable side. So if you have a USB cable and watch cradle, you can run "adb bugreport > phone.txt" with the phone plugged in, and "adb bugreport > wear.txt" with the wearable plugged in. There is also a bug report mechanism which can work over Bluetooth, outlined here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/08/27/android-wear-app-update-adds-a-confusing-way-to-report-bugs-to-app-developers-support-for-ambient-light-sensors/

Once you have a bug report, please send them to me directly, do not share them in public since they might have private information in them. Ping me on hangouts and I'll send you my email address. The quicker I get reports, the quicker I can work on getting a solution for this. Thanks!

The Google Vs Oracle trial has reached a conclusion. After a heated battle in court a jury has now found the use of Oracle’s code and APIs to be fair use. An exceptional result for what could have cost Google billions. Now we only have to wait for the numerous appeals and so forth.
