The /r/cigars Cigar of the Month - hell yeah!  As a Chicagoan I am proud of Tesa and all the great cigars they make in their factory in Nicaragua!  Great review!!

The country's oldest family run cigar shop, you'll find Iwan Ries right off the CTA in the downtown Loop. Sporting the widest selection of pipe tobacco in the country, Iwan Ries serves as a pipe shop and cigar shop and cigar lounge if you're down to pay the $15 guest membership fee. The workers were amazingly congenial and knowledgeable and pointed me the right way to find some Opus X Angel Share and to try a house blend cigar. Great shop with a wide selection with good location downtown, just be aware that they close relatively early, but the lounge stays open much longer.

Up Down Cigar is an old town institution having kept its doors open for the past 50 years. With connections all across the cigar industry, there are few things you won't find that will make for a good smoke. From La Palina to Padron and Tatuaje, you won't even find any trouble finding some Opus X at Up Down. They bring in some of the biggest names in the cigar industry nearly every month and recently opened a back garden patio for outdoor smoking in the winter. Not the greatest place to have a cigar during winter, the retail space is a little cramped to bring five or six friends to go smoke. Overall the staff is knowledgeable and helpful and the shop has a lot of history and great selection.

The best place to get dim sum on the north side. This Uptown institution serves dim sum daily from 9am-9pm and is BYOB with a fully stocked bar. Not a dim sum fan? You can still order from a full Chinese menu as well as a bubble tea bar. Furama can also serve as an event venue space and is wheelchair accessible.

Welcome to the BEST cigar shop in the city. I have been to many cigar shops in the city and when I think of the most comfortable place to be, I choose Tesa Cigars. Conveniently located off the Morgan Green Line stop, it's a stone's throw away from downtown and right off the 8 Halsted bus for those interested. Want to drive there? You won't find a struggle for street parking or their private lot. You'll find boutique selections in the Tesa humidor including Liga Privada, Padron, La Flor Dominicana, other Drew Estate, Macanudo among others. Test your acumen - there are cigars over ten years old sitting in their humidor! If you are given a recommendation for a Tesa Cigar, by all means take it! I had made the mistake of ignoring the recommendation the first few times because I automatically assumed a house blended cigar was not any good. NO! Well known by the hardcore cigar aficionado community, a Tesa Cigar stands heads and shoulders above many of the classic and commercially distributed big brand cigars. With their own production factory out in Esteli Nicaragua, their cigars are manufactured and produced in one of the burgeoning cigar capitals of the world. The unique distinct flavor profile of a Tesa Cigar is lights out, top of the line, and one you will be hard pressed to find in any cigar in any cigar lounge across the country. If you like light cigars, go for a Picadura King Connecticut, like something medium? Then hit up the Picadura King Habano? Too light? If you want something more medium/full go for the 312 Cabinet and of course the Tesa Shaman Torpedo! Then of course there is the boss of all cigars: GRAD CRU! The Gran Cru is a powerful cigar that will hit your taste buds and explode. A truly complex and beautiful cigar, Tesa Cigars will always burn evenly and give you the rock 'em sock 'em feel from smoking a quality premium cigar at reasonable prices. Let's not forget that Tesa is also a cigar lounge! Want to spend a few hours herfing a cigar and doing some work? It will all work out - there are plenty of electrical outlets to plug in and thank god there is free wireless / wi-fi to take advantage of! Big comfortable leather chairs and giant TVs showing whatever game you want will also welcome you. Oh, did I forget to mention? Tesa is also BYOB without any additional fee!! What does this all means? It means you can bring in a bottle of scotch, smoke the finest cigars in the city, and surf the web, and knock yourself out in one of the best cigar businesses in the city. Hands down - take it from one who knows.

Great boutique cigar shop carrying many boutique brand names. You will find the humidor stocked with plenty of Liga Privada, RomaCraft, and Viaje Cigars. It is a great place to look for small batch production cigars and carries some of the finest in Nicaraguan tobacco. You can also buy pipe tobacco as well as accessories from Blue Havana.

This cigar shop located in the heart of River North will just do. Pros: Tax is already baked into the price. Most macro brands of cigars carried here. If you're lucky, they'll have some Opus X in stock. You can find Camacho Ditkas here. They have their own Rocky Patel Chicago blend. Cons: There is nowhere to sit and you can't light up a cigar in there. Boutique brands are almost wholly absent from the shop. I would liken this to going to your standard liquor store that lacks really great microbrews or are missing exceptional quality bourbon/scotch/or wine. They do carry most major brands if that is your cup of tea. If you know nothing about cigars, this place will fit the bill as they'll carry most recognizable name brands.

Unacceptable. During lunch hour on a snowy Friday, I came in and couldn't decide what to order, in the end I decided on a Cuban Press. Waiting in line after I ordered, this wait soon became a debacle as everyone in line had been in the line for over twenty to thirty minutes. I don't know about you, but downtown food service needs to be fast so you can get your food to go back to your office. With no updates in sight and more orders being taken but not fulfilled it soon became very crowded waiting in line watching no one get any food. It was among one of the most inefficiently run restaurants I have ever seen downtown and delivering on what you pay for in a reasonable time is not their priority. Half an hour later I got a sandwich and was finally able to LEAVE! If you want to get a sandwich quick and get back to work: DON'T BOTHER COMING HERE!
