Great place where your kids can play in a variety of environments -- there's a little teepee, a small climbing structure, tubs of toys like bristle blocks, and other playroom stuff. Then there are couches and cafe tables for parents to have a little sit-down snack and coffee (sold in the back). There's also (of course) a fully-appointed changing table and cubbies. Very, very handy resting spot for parents. I think it's $10 to just play as long as you want or $15 to take a class, but check to make sure.

I love this vet. I brought my cat here when he had an abscess, and the vet and assistants knew immediately what it was, and handled him with gentleness and good humor. (The good humor part was when the abscess leaked all over the place without having to be lanced, and it was gross and also funny.) I was able to ask all the questions I needed to and felt very comfortable about the care, and was given a choice between more and less expensive treatments -- at no time was I pushed into paying more than I was comfortable doing. I then brought my dog for a checkup, and she is a nervous little terrier who didn't like any of the process. They were gentle and kind and she was out of there swiftly, and has been like a new dog ever since (they finally got rid of her fleas). It turned out that the first vet I had brought her to, two years ago when we got her, had told us some fibs, which University Vet corrected. Again, this vet was cheaper -- we didn't have to do blood tests before getting the prescription for flea medicine. Finally, I have to single out and commend the front desk simply for being friendly, professional, and helpful. I wish she worked for my actual doctor rather than my vet, because this is how health care is supposed to be. Also, the waiting room has cookies. FOR PEOPLE. I mean obviously they have treats for dogs. BUT THEY ALSO HAVE TREATS FOR HUMANS.

I discovered this place back when it was called Isa's. I'm a mom to young children and, sadly, never manage to get my hair cut regularly. Yet when I do, I'm amazed again and again at the enormous difference in my appearance. Seriously: My hair is standard-issue long-brown-hair, but Tony is able to look at my ends, see through the mess to the gentle long layers he created for me, and fix me up in no time. (I have also, when Tony wasn't available, had Lori cut my hair as well, and she's equally terrific. I just really love Tony.) I am also a giant snob about haircuts. My worst fear -- okay, my worst HAIR fear -- is looking suburban. I don't need to look hip; I just need to not be mullety or frizzly. For the money, this is the consistently highest quality haircut I've found in SF. Love this place.
