Pics taken from the SECOND ANNUAL Great Lakes Gathering in Saginaw Michigan at the First Merit Park across from the Dow Event Center (Saginaw Civic Center for the old timers).  Great music, great fun, and we also met some cool people!  Performer names are in the captions of the pictures!    #greatlakesgathering

Some old school ideas for note-taking.  I'm going to try a bullet journal for work and personal (not separate though) and see how it works; starting in September.

Incredibly In-depth post on a variety of note-taking methods/techniques.
No matter what your profession, there are lots of reasons to take notes. You take notes to retain information from thing you hear - like meetings and presentations. You take notes to capture facts ...

This looks interesting.  Has anyone heard of it or tried it?
If you're not a big fan of storing your notes on a third-party service like Google Keep or Evernote, Paperwork is similar software that's open-source that also allows you to host it yourself.

I took a quick peek at this. Unfortunately it's database-backed so I didn't get much further. Tagspaces spoiled me as I can use vim / nautilus to edit / move files around as needed.

And I'm back to Evernote with the standard apps on Mac, iOS and Android and Everpad on Linux.  I can't resist the pull of simplicity and always on all my devices.

So. I have an iPad mini now and I quite like it. There are going to be people that I follow that say that the iPad is crap and I get why they say that, but I definitely like it as much as my nexus 7 (which is going to a friend).

Review up on the main blog in due time but I wanted to say that I liked it a lot.

I dunno, I think people who bring their kids into geek culture are pretty awesome. If I had kids, they'd be watching all this cool stuff. :)

Sorry for being short, I was on my ipad and typing there is a pain (just as much of a pain as on the N7).

Good thing I didn't get invested in Springpad.

They probably couldn't take it from the huge competitor Evernote. I hope they will help the users with an export to Evernote option now.Read more

Good idea.  I pretty much use them in my productivity too. I've tried others but I go back to those two.

How a Car Engine Works

After " Cheetah: Nature’s Speed Machine " (watch here: https://plus.google.com/100838479986767739179/posts/1xhAwEQdjRG) I share " How a Car Engine Works ", another great infographic from Jacob O'Neal.

The image below is only the first part of the infographic. For watching completely the car engine's mechanical wonders, go to:

I've never gone through keycaps before but the double shot ones on the Max are beautiful! Good choice if you get that one for sure.
