I've been dabbling in quilting. I've found that there are some similarities between #quilting  and #genealogy . (There's also one big difference!)
As a newbie quilter, I was surprised how similar quilting and genealogy are.

"Did Great-Grandpa Grow Hemp?" or "A Way to Use Agricultural Schedules to Interest Family Members in Genealogy" :) #genealogy   #familyhistory
The Agricultural Schedules aren't used often, but they can tell us a lot. See how you can use these schedules to find more details about your ancestors.

When we advertise things like "Genealogy on the Internet," are we actually dating ourselves and sounding irrelevant? #genealogy   #familyhistory
Why do we market education events as "genealogy on the Internet" rather than just genealogy?

Excel can be great for timelines, except when it comes to pre-1900 dates. Here's how you can force Excel to sort those dates correctly. #genealogy

The terms sound harsh to us, but we need to look if we have any "defective" ancestors. Their records can tell us a lot. #genealogy   #familyhistory
Nancy Bane was a 62 year old housewife living in Gallia County, Ohio. Her attacks of mania started when she was 47. She was often kept under lock at key for at least part of the day. She was defect...

"Not well" could mean so many things. Mentally? Physically? Intellectually? Morally? Was it a permanent thing or temporary situation? (I love it when the enumerator gives additional comments like that!)

Public library websites should be in every genealogist's toolbox -- and not just for the catalog! So many online resources available from #libraries   of all sizes. #genealogy   #familyhistory
The value of library websites for genealogy goes well beyond the online catalog. Libraries of all sizes are adding more and more online data.

And different libraries (and/or communities) may have different types of records available, both online and for on-site researchers!

What do you do when the record you're looking for doesn't exist? The answer lies not in the record, but in the information you want to find. #genealogy   #familyhistory
How do you find genealogy information when the record you're looking for doesn't exist? Ask yourself what it is you're really trying to find.

I recently went to Utah and opted not to go to the Family History Library. Here's why I'm ok with that decision. #genealogy   #familyhistory
You don't have to go to the Family History Library while you're in Utah. In fact, you might be better off if you don't.
