Starting April 15, all new video campaigns will have different settings and ad formats. Then starting May 15, all campaigns will be automatically upgraded.

The change will take AdWords "TrueView" video viewing from three formats to two: in-stream and in-display. The change will fold in the former third option, in-search viewing, with in-display.

Thank you for the last 9 years!

Around this time, in 2004, +Ingrid Srinath  Ingrid Srinath (then from CRY - Child Rights and You) convinced me to start Pinstorm. +Hanisha Vaswani   joined as our first ever colleague. Bharat joined in admin - he's still with us today.

There was no Facebook then, or Twitter, or Google Plus. We started out doing some Paid Search stuff on Google - I remember tracking down +Premshree Pillai from a college in Vashi to help with tech. +Nikhil Sheth  joined soon after - and still heads the tech efforts today. Professor V Vinay of Simputer fame advised us on tech.

Over the years, we've done so much more than paid search. We kicked in SEO in 2005, then display advertising in 2006, then built sites, then started doing some cool algorithmic media buying on display and search in 2008. Social came in in 2010. Video in 2011. And we did all with a clear mandate: let's bring transparency and efficiency into marketing - and let's kill the practices of media kickbacks and production over-billing that the entire Indian ad world still suffers from today.

Today, as India's largest independent digital-driven brand firm, I think we've done all right. Digital is no longer some addendum at the bottom of a media plan - it's front and center. Kickbacks are down but still not out, and we're going after them like the SEALs after Osama.

And we're beginning to be seen with the same kind of respect and expectation - if not more - than traditional creative and media firms.

A big thank you to the clients we've worked with over the years: Sharekhan, who still have faith in us 9 years after they started out with us, ICICI Bank, Jet Airways, HDFC, Yatra, Airtel, Cadbury Kraft, Wipro, Cairn, and so many more.

And to the people who made it special. Facebook won't let me tag all here, so here's just a few who walked with us on this path: +Reshma Nayak   moved over from a career in dentistry to start becoming the superstar she is today. +ansoo gupta joined in 2006 from The History Channel and runs the place today. 

And to so many others who made us what one client called "the cradle of digital talent in India today": +Amish Keshwani, +Yashita Mukhi (who shares a birthday with us), +Rajeev Bala  (and I've run out of tags I can use in the post so forgive me, the rest of you) - Venkat, Raj, +sanjeev kumar  who still is our Information Systems baron 7 years down the line, Anjali, Swapna, Brian, Carlyle, Hetal, oh how can I forget +Netra Parikh , queen of Twitter in India and of admin in Pinstorm for almost 7 years, all the folks in the kick-ass ORM team, the tech whizzes (we're still the only brand firm with a real tech team), the creative superstars Chetan, Sanjay Khare  , Parag, Peter Griffin, Bala, and their copy and design teams, Ratan KK, Beverly and others who've run delivery like clockwork - and Sudesh, Pramoda and the ever-solid folks in Finance - not to forget Akanksha, Amit and the other client management superstars, Varun and Ujjwal in digital video and even my assistants Annaleta, Vanessa and Nisha who have had to bear the brunt of my lack of clarity and memory. Thank you all. 

And a bigger thank you to the ones I haven't named here. All my fault - blame my advancing senility!

It's been an awesome 9 years. Strange, at some times it feels like we're some veterans having fought and survived or won many battles. But it also feels like things are just getting started around here.

I do think this though: the stage has just been set for us. And the next 9 years will be even more awesome, even more impactful, even more market-changing.

And to the few I cannot name because you're in the process of joining us: welcome aboard folks.

Let's make this a legendary time!
