General Discussion  -

Hello everybody!

I tried to find something on this through Google but I wasn´t successful there. Maybe you can help me out.

We have a website at work which uses some CSS menu as navigation. There is one link in the dropdown menu that brings to user to another website in a new tab via a simple target="_blank". I know that´s not really elegant but it had to be done fast. Anyway. On Android devices this works just fine. On iOS however this only works when you longpress that menu item and select "open in a new window" manually. Otherwise it will open a wrong page in the same window!

Does anyone have a clue why this could be? Am I missing something here or is this a bug/feature on Safari for iOS devices?

Many thanks in advance!

This is the line of code that seems to cause problems:

<a href="http://www.ans-solutions.de/index.php?id=karriere"  onfocus="blurLink(this);" target="_blank">Karriere (neues Fenster)</a>

It's a long shot but easy enough to try it out. I did just read a discussion that might help answer your question at  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18879631/how-to-open-safari-from-a-webapp-in-ios-7

Seems there have been some issues using target="_blank" with iOS 7 devices, but they are claiming it was fixed in 7.0.3

Nothing was mentioned about the longpress but they may have not been as intuitive as you to try it out.

If you find out what the issue is could you let me know? Never know if I will run into the same issue.
