The mosquito-borne #Zika‬  virus has infected more than 1,400 people in the U.S. and more than 3,700 people in #PuertoRico . Health officials are warning pregnant women to avoid travel to countries where Zika is active or present. Infection during pregnancy can cause severe birth defects, including abnormal brain development.

To protect families from #mosquitoes‬ carrying the virus, we’re delivering 300,000 cans of insect repellent to our health partners in the southern U.S. and Puerto Rico. The product donations from SC Johnson, A Family Company are a continuation of our distribution of repellent in the U.S. and El Salvador this spring. We continue to provide families with protection kits that include repellent, bed nets, and educational materials throughout #LatinAmerica‬  and the #Caribbean . Learn more: http://bit.ly/AmCSCJZika

Every year, 43 million adults in the U.S. experience mental health issues. Adults living with serious mental illness are more likely to be uninsured and go without treatment. To help this vulnerable population get the help they need, we’re expanding access to treatment options through a new partnership with the National Council for Behavioral Health and its 2,500 member organizations. Our new Mental Health Initiative provides donated medicine to health centers and behavioral health providers for the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other disorders. Today the Canhabagat Health Station will see its first patient. This new health center marks the 83rd facility rehabilitated by our #Philippines team since the super typhoon #Haiyan  in 2013. The new facility is complete with storm-resistant structure that prevents wind damage and reduces solar heating. Health workers have access to high-quality equipment and training to provide primary care to residents. To meet the #mentalhealth  and #psychosocial  needs of the community, we launched the next phase of a program to support health workers, local government, and clinical staff.
