Dinner and a Show in Bethesda
There was a time when jazz ruled the music circuit in America. October Events in Washington DC

The temps are dropping, the days are shortening, and fall in Washington DC will soon be in full swing. Yep, it’s October in the Capital and there is no shortage for fun events to attend with some friends, family or both!
Here are the Top 5 Events in Washington DC this fall:
Taste of DC 2015
October 10-11, 12-7 p.m. @ Pennsylvania Ave between 9th & 14th Street
When it comes to “A Taste of (insert city)”, a Taste of DC is not to be outdone. 70 of DC’s best restaurants, food trucks, and purveyors; A Beer Garden with more than 50 local, national and international brews; A Wine Walk with more than 100 wines! What’s not to love? The festival also features a Farm-to-Fork Zone.
Bethesda Row Arts Festival
October 17, 11 am – 6 pm; October 18, 10 am to 5 pm @ Bethesda Row
This fall festival features the works of more than 180 of the nation’s finest artists. The family friendly event also includes some of the area’s best street performers, musical acts, food and dining. There are also hands-on-children’s art activities. Arts and crafts include photography, jewelry, glass, ceramics, drawings and much more!
Boo at the Zoo
October 23-25, 5:30-8:30 p.m. @ the National Zoo
A Washington, DC Halloween tradition is perfect for the entire family. Enjoy trick-or-treating, animal encounters, keeper talks, festive decorations, and haunted trails. The event is geared toward children ages 4-12 and all proceeds benefit the Zoo’s conservation science and animal care programs. Zoo + Candy = fun for everyone.
Maryland Renaissance Festival 2015
Weekends through October 25, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. @ the Intersection of Route 450 & Crownsville Rd.
The Renaissance Festival recreates a 16th century English village with crafts, food, live performances on eight stages, a jousting arena and lots of games. Marvel at jugglers and magicians, listen to music and choral groups, and enjoy a variety of fare from over 40 food outlets. You can also shop at more than 100 craft shops for stained glass, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, clothing, and glass-blown creations. For the kids there are free pony rides, a maze, archery, a play area and dozens of games!
Catch A Redskins Game
October 4, 25, and November 15 @ Fed Ex Field, Landover, Maryland
Nothing says fall like a little NFL Football. The Redskins will welcome the hated Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New Orleans Saints to Fed Ex Field in the upcoming weeks. The Redskins currently sit at 1-2 but in a weak division, anything is possible in 2015. Hail to the Redskins!

Oktoberfest 2015
Fall is officially upon us and for many around the country that can only mean one thing: time for Oktoberfest!
Well, in this case, fests. That’s right, not one, not two, not three, but D.C. comes alive with local versions of the famous fall festival held each year in Munich, Germany. The Oktoberfest is a family fun event focused on German food, music, and dancing.
Here are the top 4 Oktoberfests in the Washington, D.C. region this year:
District Oktoberfest
September 19-20
Explore Washington DC’s famed Chinatown bars including RFD, Penn Social, Jackpot, Iron Horse, Fado, Rocket Bar, and Austin Grill for beer specials and entertainment. Admission is $45-$80 and a portion of the proceeds will go to local charities.
Das Best Oktoberfest
September 25-26 @ National Harbor, MD
This is one of the biggest Oktoberfests in the area this fall. The festival will include over 150 unique beers, German wines and schnapps, German foods and other festival goodies. Enjoy live music, Oompah bands, contests and much more. It’s $40 for adults and children under the age of 12 are free!
Wunder Garten Oktoberfest
September 28 – October 4 @ 150 M. Street NE Washington D.C.
The pop-up beer hall in the NoMa neighborhood features a week of Oktoberfest events including Bavarian food and drink, music, dance, and games.
Oktoberfest at Capitol City Brewing Company
October 3, 12-7 p.m. @ Shirlington Village, Arlington VA
Sample more than 60 beers and a variety of foods while enjoying lively German entertainment! Admission is $30 or free for non-drinkers. The Shirlington library will also host kid events so the entire family can enjoy their time as Shirlington Village!
