What's not to love about this location? It is rumored to be one of George Washington's favorite views, and it's free! The American Horticultural Society has an extensive flower garden, Children's Garden, and vegetable garden freely available for the public to walk through and appreciate at any time of year. The views of the Potomac River are gorgeous as well. I believe the building is available for party rentals, if you talk with the management, but the parking and the gardens are free for everyone to enjoy. I personally bring my small children to the Children's Garden, which has a variety of play options including a row boat on land and a bridge over a secret nook of a hideaway. There are even shaded picnic tables available, if you want to bring a lunch, or just spend a nice afternoon with a book and the view.
