Sometimes...I smoosh paint on feathers.  Figured this was an acceptable challenge to try.

What I thought was a hummingbird a the cannas, actually turned out to be a pink spotted hawkmoth.  Really cool to watch her feed!

They're very enjoyable to paint.  They always look better in person, though.

This took a lot of time, but it was worth it. So here is David Bowie as the Goblin King.

After a lot of work, The Goblin King is finished!

Strange coloration of an american green treefrog (Hyla cinerea) that has been hanging around.  I saw he had an injured eye, so I captured him today.

The blue color, from what I understand, comes from being axanthic, or partially axanthic.  The little guy is missing yellow pigment from his skin cells...so he looks blue.  There's a few patches of normal color, and some silvery spots on his back too.

Large Cricketkiller wasp visited as well.  The one of her upside down is not due to injury or death.  She just did that and sat there for a minute.  Allowed me to get a good shot of her jaws though

New feather progression gif.  Is it wrong that I'm so amused by these?

I used to make sure I was in a completely different room from them.  Jumpers have gotten me used to being closer.

One of the better places on Hatteras Island! They have some really fantastic gluten free wings in several different sauces, a wonderful variety in their regular menu, and awesome specials for each day of the week. There's a limited amount of tables, but it can be well worth the wait. They also have a bar that you can sit at, perfect for a single person or a couple, during the busiest hours. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered from there and recommend it to everyone!

Rabiah is dedicated to her work! But what is more important is that her shop is dedicated to her customers. There are so many options and she helps you choose not only what looks good, but what fits perfectly for your feet! Have wide feet? No problem! Have high insteps? No problem! Want something special painted on them? No problem! Even a day into wearing my first pair I noticed I was walking differently. Not just differently, BETTER! I'd recommend a pair of her shoes to everyone!

I have a horrible fear of the dentist due to some pretty bad experiences. I just had to go here to get a wisdom tooth removed and he is FANTASTIC. The staff were patient and understanding, and the receptionist put me at ease before I even stepped a foot in the door. After I arrived though, Dr. Paul was a very warm and welcoming personality, but I could also tell behind the laugh and friendliness all of the gears were turning. I trusted him to do work on my teeth. I've not completely recovered yet, but being I have several more wisdoms to come out, there's no question as to who I will be returning too. My teeth were in very practiced hands at this office.

We ended up here on the suggestion of some friends. The food wasn't too bad, I'd recommend the hibachi before I'd have the sushi there (Takio down in Nags Head is better IMHO). I'm generally a quiet person, so when the chef was laughing and joking with everyone it was a bit awkward. He was very upbeat and pleasant for most, but I found him kind of rude and made way too many sexual comments for my liking about taking patrons home. Just not my thing. I liked the food...but the atmosphere will keep me from coming back.

I've not had the bedbug and roach problem so many other reviews have posted. It was what I expected for an inexpensive hotel. The people were friendly. The rooms were clean. The only thing even resembling a roach was a palmetto bug, which to be honest we get then in every facility no matter where you go in the South. It's a small place, the beds were a bit on the stiff side. But I can't really say I was afraid to be there or considered leaving. It was fair for the price. We were only staying a night to get dental work done, so it was pretty much what we where expecting. If you're looking for a few nights, and you want comfort of a fancy city hotel, this is not the place for you. If you're tired and just need a place to crash and get a hot shower, it will suit your needs JUST fine.

If was looking for an actual meal, this is where I used to go before I found I had a gluten allergy. Food is amazing! The only reason there's a low rating on the service isn't because they staff is abrasive (with exception of the hostess...we've never had a friendly hostess) but because they're so busy it seems that they don't have a chance to really focus on what they're doing. They do go as fast as they can, but there's only so much a busy waitress/er can do. There is a good variety of food choices, though not much for a no-gluten diet. It's almost painful not to be able to eat the bread they have!!!

Typical chain restaurant I suppose. Way too expensive for the portions/quality. The service was good, and they're nice as can be. But I won't be going back. I'd rather spend that much for something in a little family run thing down here than at that place any day.
