A Hint of the Aurora Over Lace LakeMission Mountain Wilderness Area, Montana
The stars swirl and a hint of the Aurora Borealis shines over Lace Lake in the Mission Mountain Wilderness Area of Montana.Photography Tip:
This photo is a single twenty-five minute exposure. When I shot this image, the Northern Lights were just the faintest pale glow across the distant sky. Like the swirling stars even a tiny light source will slowly become brighter and brighter to the camera if you extend the shutter speed into the minutes and hours range.
I created a start-to-finish video tutorial on the image processing that this type of photo usually requires a few weeks ago. MSJPhotography.com subscribers can watch the complete tutorial in full 1080p HD. Everyone else can watch the first six minutes in 720p for free at http://bit.ly/1E8XDwH
Also, I will be leading another Night Skies and The Northern Lights Photography Workshop
this March up in Churchill, Manitoba. Space is extremely limited. More details at http://www.davidmarx.com/workshops/night-skies-and-the-northern-lights-photography-workshop/
