Facebook recently updated the location targeting options within it's ads manager interface. This is great news for people living in a rural area as you can now drop a pin rather than expect Facebook to recognise a place name.

More on that and other updates in this post and video...
Facebook location targeting for Ads has always been slightly flawed: In Ireland it won't allow us to target by county so I've spent many an hour on Google maps drawing radiuses around towns to try to ensure that I'm getting at least most of the county with my ads.

Driving traffic to your website can't ever be the primary goal of your Instagram account, although that might change when ads are rolled out to us all.

However that doesn't mean you shouldn't try and get some web visits. In this post I show you three ways to get people to visit your website or blog from your Instagram account.
Last week Instagram advertising was rolled out to more users and soon it will be available to everyone. For businesses and bloggers this is good news. At last we will be able to link from an Instagram post to our websites or blogs.

Food and tourism businesses share one huge asset. They are both highly visual. Whether it’s the latest dish in your restaurant, the cows that produce the milk for your cheese or the beautiful local surroundings there is always something to photograph and share.

We recently recorded a webinar for Food and Tourism businesses. It's full of tips and examples. Watch it below.

The last of our current run of Instagram recommendations looks at Irish food businesses to follow :)
A good food business mixes it up and makes sure that they are memorable. I've chosen six Irish food businesses that I follow on Instagram. Some of them I found thanks to Instagram, some I've gone out of my way to visit, others are on my wish list. If you are looking for Instagram inspiration you don't have to look much further.

Useful blogging tips from some of Ireland's top food bloggers :)
We asked Irish food bloggers to share their best blogging tip. If you are a blogger who is struggling to get started, or a blogger that just wants to improve what they are doing these tips could be invaluable.

Tuesday's tweet chat with Keith Bohanna was really interesting. Keith shared his passion for food and the story behind Real Bread Ireland. Here are the highlights. For more check out the #talkingsoc tag on Twitter.

Don't forget Keith is also speaking at our blogging and foodie event on 23rd of July. http://bit.ly/followtherecipe

It can be tough measuring website traffic from Instagram. Not only do you only have one clickable link on your account but it appears as 'direct' traffic in Google Analytics.

Here's a three step method for measuring your Instagram traffic.
Instagram only allows you one clickable link on your entire account and that's in your bio. What's worse that link isn't trackable. When people click it Google Analytics records it as 'direct' traffic.

Photos and presentations from last weeks Follow The Recipe - foodie and bloggers event. It was fun :)
Thanks to everyone who came along to our first 'Follow the Recipe' event. We had a great time meeting new bloggers and hearing what Fiona, Caitriona, Kieth and Emma had to share. We also enjoyed having the opportunity to speak about our latest addiction, Instagram.

Are you using Instagram video? I thought few were and I was right but the stats show that people are commenting on more on video than other types of content. Maybe it's time to look at it again.
I'm still rarely using Instagram video and from the look of my Instagram feed neither are many others. But I saw this study today. Instagram video only accounts for 8.3% of posts but gets 11.6% of all comments. This must mean it's worthwhile. Maybe it's time to look again.

Story
Tagline
I run a business helping small business use social media but more importantly I love cake and cats particularly the one that lives with me :)
Introduction
I run Spiderworking.com and am a certified social media addict. I also love cats and going cycling (or skycling) around Athy. My bike is old and rusty but I love it. My cat is neither old or rusty, her name is Chomsky and she's the love of my life.

I also like cake and cooking although don't do this as much as cycling or playing with Chomsky.

I live in Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland and work from here too. I have the best view in the whole town but often forget to look at it.

I love reading books and music and movies and being silly.
