I get asked a lot about how to use twitter! So, on the 23rd of July I'm running an evening workshop (with wine and nibbles) on how HR, L&D, OD and Recruitment types can use twitter. We will cover how to set yourself up on twitter and how to use it in an authentic and engaging way. It's not expensive and it should be fun! https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/twitter-for-hr-types-tickets-12073190237

Best social media advice. Ever.

In just nine words, +Jay Baer conveys the principle behind successful social media -- the act of being social.

No special tactics, no special tools, no secret password. Just be social.

You still need a marketing plan that aligns to your overall vision and objectives. But instead of focusing on one-way posts and status updates, look for opportunities to connect. Have conversations. You know, like real people do.

Latest blog: Why I am no longer a HRINZ member. The cover pic on Google+ is entirely co-incidental & not associated with the post.

I like this. Although I'd amend #3 to "Spend most of your time listening, liking and commenting".

I'm not a recruiter, nor do I claim to be an expert in the recruitment field. I would, however, like to offer my perspective on social recruitment and challenge some of the current approach.

Social recruitment follows the same rules as social marketing and, I believe, still following the same processes as it always has it's just a bit more whizz bang these days with apps and social media tools. Don't get me wrong, they're awesome thing, but are you actually doing anything differently?
