Photo Sphere updates in Google Camera
We just released a new version of Google Camera ( with a few Photo Sphere improvements based on requests from the +Android community. These include...

Much bigger targets
The most noticeable change is that the targets are far bigger, making it easy to see them even in bright sunlight (like this beach scene in my image here). I've really loved using this and it makes the capture process faster and more fun. Please try it this weekend, share your photo spheres on Google+ and Views (, and let me know what you think!

Performance improvements
We also significantly reduced the memory consumption used during stitching. This, combined with some other fixes, will prevent some of the crash reports you've told us about.

Note that all these changes also apply to the Pano, Wide Angle, and Fisheye modes, which are based on the Photo Sphere codebase.

Thanks to +Sascha Haeberling and team for their excellent work on Google Camera!

Focus On Your Goals...

It's easy to get lost and distracted by those around you and what you think they might or might not have.... but I've found I get the best results in life by focusing on my own goals... and then not even noticing what other people got going on.... :)

Happy 3rd Birthday Google+

Requoting this awesome post I wrote on the First Birthday Year of Google Plus...  -  It all still applies.... (

Dear Google Plus People,

Exactly one year ago today (June 28, 2011) I went to my network to find who would have an invite to this new social network from the biggest name in "internet" - Google. Someone DID have an invite.... and next thing you know I was in.

I also invited over 50 people that first day before invites were shut down. Connections from Linked in, Twitter, Facebook and Empire Avenue. It was so different! Sharing large pictures, editing posts and what was this hangout thing? I started a hangout that very day... people joined.. I had a blast. I've started one pretty much every day since. It is scary the amount of hours I've spent in a hangout in the last year. :)

I have never  experienced the ghost town idea. It actually floors me that people think that. 1 month in private beta I had 5k of people following me. By 6 months 40k. It took me close to 3 years of regular interactions on Twitter to reach that same number. I invested the time here, changed how I did things from other networks, tracked my results of what worked and constantly helped people to connect here.

Things were very different in those first few months though. There was no block, no spam, no shared circles heck.. there wasn't even a way to search. Animated graphics were popular. It was highly tech and geek. I totally loved every moment of it.

Without even realizing it, I stopped using my Facebook and Twitter as much. It just kinda happened.  There was so many exciting conversations and interests going on here on G+ that my time just naturally was spent here... connecting. Even though almost 99.9% were strangers . Google put me on the Suggested User List in December which changed everything about this space and more importantly my life.

I have met in real life over 200 people that I did not know before Google+. Some from across the country, many across the globe. I went on a cruise with some fabulous G+ ladies. I spent New Years in Washington DC with people from all over. I went to SXSW and hugged many of these crazy fun people i'd met in hangouts. Atlanta, New Orleans, Calgary, Dallas, Houston, Orlando.. I met Gplus people I'd talked with here in all of them. Recently I spent a month in San Francisco and got to go to Google's head office and meet much of the team behind this great platform. I hope to continue to meet more of you G+ people as I travel. Pretty amazing stuff for this Canadian Gal.

I am honored that each and every one of you choose to follow me and my random thoughts here on Google Plus every day. This platform has truly allowed me to "Find my Voice" and "Make a Noise" (  I have had more in depth conversations and met more amazing people in the last year that are interested in the same things I am.. than all my previous years on this earth combined. Google Plus is the biggest networking event I've ever attended. I eagerly look forward to seeing what amazing mind blowing changes you have in store for us next +Google. Thank you for everything you do. ♥

Won't you make a post and share your G+ story? I'd love to hear them. Use #whygplus .

And all of that is still true today.. except more people, more experiences and more awesomeness...

I appreciate all you millions of people who comment, +1 and reshare along with me here every day...

You Internet, mean a alot to me :) HUG

Wow. From the ashes of the federated wave servers we used to run and the failed Google Wave experience came this retooling of the parts that seemed to work.

Other aspects of google were duplicated and still exist, although some never received much use or notice anyway until they received a slight facelift, and were rebranded for release as part of g+.

All in all, this spaghetti stuck to the wall real good, this g+ thing, and I'm glad it did, and that it was able to displace those other networks of limited scope.

I've been an early adopter and beta invitee of google services now coming up on two decades. . . Wow! That's a long time, lol.

Grand Central is now Voice. There's gmail (I'm 'tallship'), webm and YouTube, DocVerse which is now Google Docs, and the list goes on and on with a seemingly indefinite vanishing point.

It took a long time to get here, and we're still on that journey, this is only a bus stop along the way, so grab a bite from the diner, but don't tarry long while taking a few minutes to stretch your legs :)

Kindest regards,

#tallship #tallshiplikes

Animated Gifs make the Internet Go Round

Might be the largest collection of animated gifs happening right now here on Google Plus... The community here really comes together for things... too bad it had to start because one guy doesn't realize he can uncircle people if he doesn't like what they post instead of demanding people do things to please him on their own profiles..  :)

If you see a post that you don't like on google plus appear in your stream... Simply hover over their name card .. and uncircle... :) Profiles are what people want to share.. so keep walking.. just like uh.. this guy :)

Bring on the Animated Gifs Internet!

Little Girl Asks Google To Give Her Dad a Day Off

This is why Google is awesome. All companies should act this way.. :) Little Katie wrote in a letter to +Daniel Shiplacoff the boss of her father who works at Google and ended up getting him a nice start to summer's  vacation.

The text from the letters is as follows:

Dear google worker,
Can you please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off. Like he can get get a day off on Wednesday. Because daddy ONLY gets a day off on Saturday

P.S. It is daddy’s BIRTHDAY! P.P.S. It is summer, you know

Google's response...

Dear Katie,
Thank you for your thoughtful note and request.
Your father has been hard at work designing many beautiful and delightful things for Google and millions of people across the globe.
On the occasion of his Birthday, and recognizing the importance of taking some Wednesdays off during the summer, we are giving him the whole first week of July as vacation time.

:) Doesn't that just make you smile?

Several papers have reported that Google verified this story to be true. Perhaps +Daniel Shiplacoff(if thats even the right Googley guy?) can confirm though? One never knows with things on the internet :)

The Anthem That Defined the 90s

Still love this song... brings me right back. Grunge was not super talented music, but it made you FEEL.. and through catharsis we get that "purging of fear through art" - something humans perfected in ancient Greece and continue today... with things like.. Nirvana.. :)

Bring on the Grunge...

P.s. Frances Bean Cobain is about to turn 22 years old... :|

The Howard Johnson By the Falls is located at 5905 Victoria Ave, right in the heart of tourist area Niagara Falls. It is roughly a 4 minute walk to the main "Clifton Hills" Tourist strip. There are tons of tourist attractions located all around the hotel and along the very pleasant walk. More shopping, restaurants and attractions than you could ever find the time for. A 24 hour Dennys shares the same parking lot as the hotel and offers a great selection of food morning or night for you to enjoy. The front desk was very helpful and check in was quick and painless. We had a romance package option which includes: Deluxe Hotel Accommodations including Suites with king-sized bed and Heart Shaped Whirlpool $25 Denny's Meal Vouchers for both your 1st and/or 2nd night stay. One Meal Voucher for use at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar A beautifully arranged Gift Basket containing one 750ml bottle of chilled VQA Niagara wine, two keepsake wine glasses with souvenir corkscrew and ice bucket, coffee candies, chocolate wafer rolls, mints and hikers mix Two adult admission passes to Niagara's Skywheel located next to the hotel. Two Adult passes for two day transportation aboard the brand new WEGO Visitor Transportation A 2 pm late check-out time As we had this "romance package" for our stay, the women also explained how the transit worked as well as supplied the various tickets for attractions. After filling out a short form for parking, We had our keys and were on the way to our room in less than 5 minutes. There are several elevators in the hotel and depending on where your room is you have flexibility to not be waiting for long. Some elevators seemed to be used more for the hotel staff than others, but staff was always friendly and let any guest go first, often saying they would "take the next one" if you happen to see staff. The room itself was very large and spacious with a comfy king size bed. Ours included a whirlpool tub, not heart shaped but this double tub actually looked like it would be more comfortable than the heart shaped one. Also was a fireplace along the wall, a microwave, fridge, a shoe buffer(of all things) and even a mirror above the bed. :) The hotel staff had gone above and beyond expectations by leaving some romantic towel swans and heart shaped rose petals on the bed. There were also birthday balloons located around the room. The hotel staff even went so far as to put My boyfriends birthday on their LED sign out front. It was really awesome surprise for my boyfriend who wasn't expecting anything. Amazing customer service.

A good price for all you can eat. Decent selection. Sushi is small. Easily one bite size and all the types ordered come out all on one plate. Tasty still. The first plate that came out, sadly the plate was actually warm, so the sushi was warm. Warm is the last thing you ever want sushi to be.
