It seems that not only Ubiquiti Networks is violating the GPL, they have achieved a new low when it comes to sneakiness and trickery.
It would be natural to think that the binaries that Ubiquiti provides were compiled from the source code that Ubiquti provides. As it turns out, for a large number of their releases, the kernel source given does not correspond to the kernel in the official firmware images.

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between playing in the Professional League and doing it in your local Regional League? In both cases, you play the same game following almost the same rules. Same field, number of teammates, and equipment. Still, playing the World Cup Final and a match with your neighborhood friends on Sunday morning are somehow not quite the same thing, are they? The ultimate difference between both cases is the people...

23 Feb 2015 - A bug is logged against Apache HTTP Server for adding HTTP/2 support — That basically means, a very large chunk of its 20 years old code-base will have to be dismantled and rewritten in order to make it happen. It is gonna be fun to watch :-)

«You used to be special, Google. Or at least we used to believe you were special.» — Worth reading. I did not know most of Google's new employees are former Microsofties, although now that I think about it, it makes sense.
Dear Google: what happened? Android sales are falling. Chrome has become a bloated hog. Analysts are calling you "the new Microsoft," or worse, "the new..

Thanks for sharing! When I'm thinking about Googles role nowadays in the internet. Not many pages are not using any of Googles services, you're found via google.

In the red corner, a few countries forcing telcos to ban certain internet domains. In the blue corner, a whole lot of new TLD and proxies to make sure those sites remain available. Let's get ready to rumble!! -- Eg: http://thepiratebay.みんな/

Open Source enables Innovation. We have seen it an endless number of times, and still many of the big players outside of the Tech industry are trying to get their heads around this fact. They are so used to the old methods that it's almost unthinkable to them to improve by sharing and collaborating, instead of competing to the death on every single aspect involved in running their businesses. When you see it from the outside as I do, it's almost c...

«Leading Climate-Denier Harvard Scientist Caught Accepting Bribes from Fossil-Fuel» — Why am I not surprised?
Newly released documents show the extent of the links between corporate interests and the published work of Wei-Hock Soon, a Smithsonian-affiliated scientist who has tried to debunk the consensus about global warming.

Of course, Goto is not harmful, as long as you know how to use it. We ought to thank Dijkstra for the warning though. I'd bet that warning is precisely the reason awareness about its potential misuse was raised, and thus the primary factor for the outcome of the linked study.
Edsger Dijkstra famously opined in 1968 on the danger of Goto statements. New submitter Mei Nagappan writes with a mellower view, nearly 50 years later: By qualitatively and quantitatively analyzing a statistically valid random sample from almost 2 million C files and 11K+ projects, we find that d...
