Michael Schlow cooks amazing Italian food and here the pizza, pasta, and antipasto blew us away. The pizza crust is crisp and amazing and the pasta is fresh and the sauce clings to it as it should. See my pics I uploaded, or better yet get in there to try it.

I have been here more times than I would like to reveal. I used to come here almost weekly. The service and food is hit or miss. Its quite cute inside, they have a nice bar and open kitchen. The market downstairs is great. I am not a huge pasta fan but definitely think that is what is best here. People rave about the mushroom filled lune and the Grandma's eggplant can be quite good. I have had some really horrible service here- just plain rude and unattentive for an high end restaurant. Other times the service has been great. None of their fish dishes have been particularly spectacular for me. In the end, I think I have come to the conclusion that this amount of money is better spent at a better restaurant in Boston or Cambridge.

After such great reviews I was really looking forward to trying this little out of the way gem. It is a small place so be prepared to be in the mix. Definitely not a romantic spot unless you find extremely loud and crowded romantic. The menu is small, but does have some tasty choices. Make sure you are up on your Italian haute cuisine before going though as it has no descriptors, which I think would have been helpful. The homemade ricotta is fantastic as was the mushroom lune that a few in our party had everything else seemed ordinary, so overpriced. I really would have expected more taste and flair. The handmade pasta was good but the tomato, chile, orange zest sauce was either lacking in flavor or quantity as it seemed to barely be there. Desserts were very good and the wine selection was plentiful with options from $30-300. I found the servers to be a little "in your face" with filling water glasses after each sip, and often filling soda glasses with water instead of asking what had been in your glass before topping it off. Overall, I do not think I will be finding my way there again.

I went here for my sisters birthday, My first take on the restaurant was it looked more like a cafe than a restaurant we were seated after a good wait even though we had reservations, our server was very kind and attentive, all was going just okay, we ordered some delicious apps and great drinks and cocktails, we ordered our dinner only to be met by a 30 minute wait because of "kitchen problems" when we finally got our food my mushroom ravioli was slightly distasteful and had an aroma as in it had been under a heat lamp for a while, when it was time for desert I felt fed up (no pun intended) but we only came to this place for the desert seeing my sister loves it, I ordered a ground peanut chocolate dish w/biscotti, and it turned around the whole evening. If you have a short food temper don't come here, if I were to come back it would be for some tasty desert.

Coming from a Wellesley native, Alta Strada is by far the best restaurant in the town. The menu offers uniquely authentic Italian cuisine with Mediterranean flair. Some of the best entrees include the cheese raviolis, pizza, and grilled chicken plus the appetizers are awesome. Also has a take-out station in the back. Overall great place to sit down and eat dinner or grab a quick bite.

The food is pretty alright, though a little bland, and the atmosphere is lovely. My grudge is mostly against the waitstaff - my hostess had no idea how to pronounce italian names, and the service was far and few in-between. Maybe I'm a snob, but you don't call an antipasta, or a plate of antipasti "antipastas"
