Quick question - I have a client that uses gmail to host her personal domain email. We are launching a new website and have had to transfer her domain to a new registrar as well as set up new hosting. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to keep her personal domain email from crashing when her domain is transferred.

could you elaborate on "uses gmail to host her personal domain email"? Does she use Google Apps (for a custom domain)?

Using Joomla Tags for menu items - if I use Joomla tags as menu links, can they be set to show articles like they appear in a category blog?

Or am I just limited to a list of links?

I have a home page that is set to display a category blog with parent category "home" which contains child categories and I've set the home menu link to display all child categories as well.

However, say I make a post that I do want to appear on the home page in order of it's post, but I also want to post relevant articles to this post but I do not want these relevant articles to appear in the home page feed, just in their subcategory menu link.

I am aware of setting the home page to "featured" articles, but I don't want to have to manually do this as all articles and posts I want to go to the home page feed, except for these relevant articles.

Is there a way to do this that doesn't involve using the featured article selection?

Not exclude, but rather include.

Essentially I'd like to be able to create a blog layout using tags instead of categories, therefore I could have the same article appear in more than one blog layouts due to their tags - since I could give an article both a "video" tag and a "news" tag, therefore if a site viewer clicked a tag menu link for video they would see that article, but if they also clicked the news tag menu link they would see the same article.

Is there a an easy way to set up a category for "Sale" products, using the special price feature and dates in the product list area in the admin section, and then the products will automatically be added and removed from the sale category based on their selected dates of their special prices?

I've been reading on this and haven't found a logical solution (logical in my terms.. :) that it seems easy to do but you would have to manually add the sale products to the sale category and manually remove them. This seems odd as it's available on many cart systems natively.

+John Hickling thanks for your answer John. In theory, I know about cron jobs and filters like you mentioned above, I've never written one myself. What sort of skill level is needed to understand how to write that and/or create a cron job?

Internet / Web / Social  -

With having a web and social media presence being so crucial to your business' visibility (and success) these days, I was wondering what are the biggest IT, website, eCommerce, SEO, or social media headaches you've experienced and what solutions worked for you in fixing them?

I ask for a couple of reasons, first I am a small business owner in the aforementioned fields and am interested in others experiences (I mentioned negative already above but positive ones as well..) and the second reason is that I hear quite a few nightmare stories from friends and colleagues about their experiences in this area while on a very tight budget.

Probably the two biggest complaints I hear are a business owner essentially being locked out of their site (CMS sites like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, or Magento) and sort of held to ransom by whoever constructed the site. The other is that trying to get ongoing support is either painful, expensive, or both.

I'd love to hear your input. Thanks.

Hey +SP Miller , from your experiences, what would you find beneficial from another business that caters to small businesses for eCommerce, IT, and all the other areas above I mentioned?

For example, the trend for SEO and social media services is a handsome monthly fee, but as you mentioned above, the business owner has to manage and do much of these things due to budget constraints.

I've considered changing that standard offering from a monthly fee to do something that is more of a one-time consulting/training complete with a plan of action that the business owner can then follow on his/her own.

Just a thought based on being a 1-man show, I also have trouble competing with the amount of options a media agency can offer when they can benefit from economies of scale by having say, a dedicated Facebook marketer, a dedicated Twitter marketer, etc., so that they can accomplish more in the same amount of time without switching platforms, switching strategies, etc.

For example, I hate switching between design and implementation simply because I look at them and approach them differently.

Using Stackideas Easy Blog --> any advice on how to create a 2-column layout for easy blog? Ideally I would have layout control over it like the main Joomla blog layout menu item, but this doesn't seem possible unfortunately...

I was thinking to make each blog post have a width of something around 47% and float left in order to keep continuity for posting dates. I'm wondering if I'll run into trouble doing this down the road, or, if someone else has done this with Easy Blog?

Hello, I'm relatively new to Adsense, my experience comes from setting it up on a site I manage but I do not own this site.

I now want to add a site I do own to my adsense account, but how do I do this so that any ad revenue my site generates does not go to the bank account of the owner of the site I manage.

The owner of the site I manage added me to his account so I could manage the ads for the site I do not own. But I'm not seeing clear instructions on how to set up my own bank account with adsense and create ads for my site.

Any suggestions or resources out there that explain this?

Beginner question, is Google Adwords the new "keyword" tool for google?

I want to begin studying keywords and key phrases that apply to areas of a city. For example, is there a way to study the search words and search phrases that occur within a specific geographic location of an area/city?

Also, if I wanted to create a site that targeted certain keywords for something like "fine dining in downtown los angeles" how would I go about this process (not the site creation, but searching to see what the dominant keywords or key phrases are for fine dining in downtown LA).

Would I need a paying adwords account just to explore the terms or do I have to pay a fee to search the terms?

I do not plan on purchasing keywords to use for rankings, I just want to explore what they are and pursue them organically.

Thank you.

Hi, new to Magento and was wondering what blog extensions are recommended for a site that needs the blog within the actual site and not at a subdomain or other place like blogspot?

I am open to paid as well as free extensions, I'd just like to find one that integrates easily, performs great with respect to SEO, and is user friendly.

Thanks in advance. Oh, and it's Magento Enterprise 1.7.0.2
