The Melbourne job market is still currently quite strong with lots of fantastic opportunities still surfacing.... Historically, we know that there tends to be a downturn as we lead into late November and December, so if you're currently looking at opportunities now is the time to get prepared and make your mark.

RESUME TIP: Think of the first page of your resume as an index page. It should outline your value and strengths and tell a recruiter or a potential employer what you can offer, what you have done and enough of your background to get them interested. The first page is your hook; once this is right, you've gained their attention and can then "wow" them with detail around your career and achievements.

Resume TIP: Focus on achievements and how you have contributed to different projects. It's perfectly fine to talk about your involvement in various projects, even if you did not lead them or they were not part of your regular duties. Achievements don't have to be things you got an award or big ceremony for - they can simply be everyday tasks or challenges that you have succeeded at.

When it comes to writing the perfect resume there are no "set rules" about length. The first page should be treated like an overview page, outlining a summary of yourself and your most relevant skills, education and experience.

Thereafter you need to focus on achievements and make yourself shine. We find most resumes we complete range from 2-4 pages - it really depends upon your experience and just how much of your brilliance needs to be captured.
