This restaurant makes an impression! Dramatic setting located in the Ritz Carlton The cuisine is a modern take on traditional Mexican and Latin American cuisine and the chef Chad Clevenger displays his real talent in tasty and colorful plates served in this lively atmosphere. I went here with my boyfriend for my birthday. We liked sitting near the bar which is great for people watching. Service was good and we had no complaints about the timing of the food. Drinks were inventive. We had the tasty Naranjarita Antiguo which was reposado tequila, blood orange infusion, orange brandy, hand-squeezed citrus juices. If you like Ceviches we found the PERUVIAN-STYLE RED SNAPPER roasted sweet potato, corn, lime, Aji Amarillo sauce very different and delicious. My boyfriend would have liked to see more beef or steak choices in the main course section. He ended up ordering the GRILLED STEAK TACOS with cipollini onions, nopales, mezcal salsa borracha, Sweet Grass Dairy Asher Blue cheese crema, epazote, flour tortillas . He thought it was ok but was disappointed. The mango dessert was yummy to share.

It may be because I work in the building that houses Alma Cocina, but I have eaten here quite a bit because of various work functions and I have to say, it is just ok. I've eaten a variety of meals on the menu for lunch and I have never been wowed. Granted, I have never had a "bad" meal either. It is just, average. The Tortas are good, the cuban is good, the guac is good, as is the salsa. The general feedback from my colleagues is the same - it's not bad, but not close to the best.

I'm puzzled by any bad review of this place or the suggestion that the food is 'nothing special'. It's absolutely the opposite and any true 'foodie' will be delighted by Alma Cocina. Great food and friendly knowledgable service, at least from Cassandra at the bar. She described the dishes so well I was convinced she either created them herself or sincerely loves this food. After dining here I understand why. I'm not a big fan of mexican restaurants but Alma Cocina is far from the typical Mexican joint. The food is uniquely delicious. We had the chicken tostadas to start and it is amazing. The blend of flavors works wonderfully and you can taste the care put into each ingredient. I also had Carnitas tacos which are fantastic. The pork is juicy and very flavorful, expertly done. My only disappointment was at realizing I was too full to try more of the menu. Can't wait to come back and try something new. If you are in this area skip the mediocre likes of Hard Rock Cafe and eat at Alma Cocina.

Delish! Indulge me by trying the Naranjarita with a half sugar, half salt rim, Chicken Tinga tosdada and Huiltlacoche empanadas. I'll wait for you to thank me later. Let's start with my fab server, Ladre, whose recommendations were spot on! Got the perfect mix of prompt, attentive service and "leave me alone and let me inhale this food and talk with my friends" time. Full of sabor, the food was fantastic. Loved that Ranchero sauce! Everyone left the table completely satiated and ready for a return visit. You will be too!

I'm a huge fan of the Fifth Group restaurants, and this one is no different. It's upscale Mexican. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice that the ambiance is very classy and relaxing. I've come here with family, friends, colleagues, and for date night. It's sexy and intimate, but still fun and upbeat. They have a wonderful menu. Great margaritas with hand-squeezed citrus. One of my favorites is the roasted butternut squash guacamole. Smoky and delicious! I also like the tacos and ceviche. This is literally the ONLY restaurant I will go to downtown. I'm not the biggest fan of downtown ATL, but Alma is worth it. They validate parking tickets in the building, so if you're driving, just pull into the garage on the Peachtree Center Ave NE side (the back).

The following is from a world traveler and foodie. Nothing, really! nothing special about this place, everything here was so bland, and distasteful; even the tres leches cake!!! The only good thing I can say about this place is that they have a really sociable friendly bartender (Sandra) I'm walking out in disbelief, it's hard to comprehend how a place with sucha how rating can be so disappointing.. BTW If you already end up here the corn was not as bad as the other things on the menu. Ps. And if you are getting the tres leches cake, ask for extra passion fruit.
