The documentary All’s Well and Fair (http://AllsWellAndFair.com), directed by +Luci Westphal, is an ongoing project started in 1996. The documentary juxtaposes the lives and ideals of 3 single punk rock moms and their children during the 1990s with their realities and opinions in 2006 and 2016 - giving a unique perspective on alternative culture, growth and identity.

The 1996 version was a short documentary. The 2006 version was released as an interactive web series in 19 episodes and as a stand-alone 90-minute film on DVD. The 2016 version wrapped up filming in July 2016. It is currently in post-production.

#Irma Update from #Gainesville: it appears that all the families from the documentary are safe. Communicated with several directly - heard about others through the grapevine. There's some flooding, some loss of electricity, someone's porch roof got punctured by a fallen branch. But most importantly: EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE OKAY! The rain and high winds are predicted to continue throughout the day. But at least it's "just" a category 1 tropical storm now. Hoping everyone continues to stay well and safe. xx Luci

Watch Tempra grow up: https://www.patreon.com/posts/all-grown-up-12695936+

When I was putting together a post with photos of a visit by Tempra (one of the original 3 kids), it quickly turned into a visual journey of Tempra through the three stages of filming: 1996, 2006 and 2016. Now I'm inspired to make such photo posts for the other kids... and the mothers...

Today, I'm sharing another rough-cut scene from the upcoming 3rd installment of "All's Well and Fair"... exclusively to patrons and anyone in the film. In this scene, we meet the new generation, hear Rachel and Tessa talk about mothers and grandmothers, and we come to realize that Tessa inherited Rachel's wonderful sense of humor.

This quote from Tina (one of the three mothers in "All's Well and Fair") sums up what I'm trying to communicate with this project and why I think it's a worthwhile story to tell that may inspire others. Here is her full quote without my little edit:

"I think raising a child, raising a son, I just couldn't even imagine raising him any other way than just to say: look around you, look at what the women in your life have done and... yeah, it's not like... famous, it's not world-breaking, but they've tried to live honestly, raise their children so that they’re good people - while also trying to find some sort of fulfillment in their own lives... and very often have not had anyone else to rely on but themselves."

Side note: The photo used is of the supermoon at sunset seen from my hotel room during the All's Well and Fair shoot last summer.

xx Luci

Wishing all mothers and children a Happy Mother's Day with this excerpt from the 2006 version of "All's Well and Fair" - in which the mothers and children honestly (!) talk about mothers.

As I just re-watched the episode, I got giddy and impatient about sharing with you what all of them had to say about the topic in 2016. Yesterday, I got deep into the interview with Jefferson (Tina's son, now in his mid-20s)... and I got goosebumps listening to him talk as an adult male about his mother. Then there is Tessa (Rachel's daughter), now a mother herself. And that footage of Margaret teasing her daughter Laksmi (now a teenager) about when Laksmi calls her "Mother!" and when she calls her "mommy". Although, I don't think I ever heard Laksmi call Margaret "mommy". But I still have a lot of footage to go through... Anyway, I'm excited. And I hope you're, too. And I hope you all have a lovely Mother's Day!
