Introduction

Allison C. Shields, Esq., President of Legal Ease Consulting, Inc., provides leadership, practice management and business development coaching and consulting services for lawyers and law firms. She is the co-author of the books, LinkedIn in One Hour for Lawyers and Facebook in One Hour for Lawyers.

After leaving her position as Administrative Partner at one of Long Island’s premier law firms, Allison started Legal Ease Consulting, Inc. to help lawyers and law firms develop their practices to their fullest potential. As a practicing lawyer and law firm manager, Allison has walked in the shoes of her clients and knows the unique challenges faced by lawyers today. She understands the law firm environment and the daily pressures faced by lawyers trying to manage and build their business while practicing law and successfully serving their clients.

Allison helps her clients create efficient, effective systems and operations to maximize productivity and enhance client experience. She works with firms to develop professional and non-professional staff and create a law firm culture that inspires employees and clients alike. Her proven processes and systems help keep law firms and individual lawyers accountable for reaching their goals and implementing the plans they create. Allison’s clients learn how to identify and attract their ideal clients, improve their client intake and selection process, and develop client-friendly fee structures to enhance the lawyer-client relationship.

Allison is an active member of the American, New York State, Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations.  She serves on the Education Board of the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section, and is an Officer in the Suffolk Academy of Law, the educational arm of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

A sought-after author and lecturer, Allison has published articles in The Suffolk Lawyer, The Nassau Lawyer, the Law Trends publication of the American Bar Association’s GP/Solo section, Law Practice Today, the on-line publication of the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association, Immigration Law Today, and TechnoLawyer, among others.  She is also the author of the Legal Ease Blog at www.LegalEaseConsulting.com. Her website, Lawyer Meltdown (www.LawyerMeltdown.com), provides resources and information for lawyers about managing and building their practices. The products and services Allison offers focus on the following areas: Planning and Strategy; Procedures and Systems; Business Development and Client Experience; and Culture and Professional Development.

Allison has presented workshops in both private and public settings on various topics, including: social media and internet marketing, productivity, time management, effective communication, handling clutter in your law practice, mission statements, marketing and management of a law practice, targeting your ideal client, client service, legal marketing basics, networking, law firm billing, legal fees and alternatives to the billable hour, law firm systems, and eliminating obstacles to law firm effectiveness.

A 1993 graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Allison practiced law for 15 years before opening her consulting practice full time. As a practicing lawyer, Ms. Shields handled litigated matters ranging from premises and products liability to labor law and professional malpractice. She lives on Long Island and when she isn’t working with clients, she enjoys traveling, reading, photography, cooking and visiting Long Island’s wineries.
