Happening now - DEPE for SMEs in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Today we are training SMEs on practical tools and methods that can help to prevent corruption. They will be able to apply these in their companies and will learn how creating collective action against corruption among peers and competitors in their sector can lead to the improvement of their business environment and their competitiveness. The new generation of DEPE trainers is also taking part today in order to finish their training. They are eager to pass on their knowledge and experience in the area on ethics and compliance to even more companies all over the country later this year.

Last week, the DEPE trainer Working Group met for the second time in Chile. We warmly welcome the new members of the Group! We discussed our next activities and events such as the Train-the-Trainer Workshop and the DEPE training which will take place on 24 and 25 May. The participants of this meeting were representatives from the compliance departments of the following companies: BAYER S.A., Camchal, Cencosud S.A., Kaufmann S.A., Maersk Chile S.A., Merck S.A., Mutual de Seguridad, SIEMENS S.A., Sura, Walmart Chile. The second edition of the Portuguese DEPE Webinar Series in partnership with the Global Compact Network Brazil took place today. The topic addressed was “Code of Ethics and Conduct" and was conducted by the DEPE trainer Lino Gavioli from Siemens Brazil and the invited expert in compliance Alexandre Serpa from Drogaria Onofre. 65 participants joined the session.

On the occasion of the German G20 Presidency, the Alliance for Integrity and the German Embassy in Brazil co-hosted a business brunch on challenges and opportunities in the implementation of business integrity. The meeting was attended by high-level representatives from the Brazilian private and public sector, including the Minister for Transparency, Torquato Jardim, as well as experts from civil society and heads of delegation of G20.

At the meeting the Group continued the planning of activities for the year.
