Happy (belated) Groundhog Day from the Chalice Children at Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church! Our 3 and 4 year olds made groundhog puppets on Sunday as they learned about the wonder of the changing seasons and our natural world. There's something fun and meaningful happening in all of our classes for children each Sunday. Contact dre@a2u2.org if you have any questions about Religious Education here at A2U2.

Sunday, Jan. 12 - 9:00 & 11:00 AM - Welcome!

WATERING THE SEED OF UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISM IN BURUNDI AND AFRICA

Rev. Fulgence Ndagijimana and Rev. Myke Johnson
Allen Avenue UU, 524 Allen Ave., www.a2u2.org

Our guest, Rev. Fulgence Ndagijimana, will explore how Unitarian Universalism is planting its tent in Burundi and Africa, the challenges it faces and the opportunities that it presents for the people there and their aspirations and hopes for the future.

Rev. Fulgence Ndagijimana is co-founder and minister of the Unitarian Church of Bujumbura in Burundi. He serves a growing church looking both inwards and outwards to serve church members and community needs. He also works as a skilled development and humanitarian agent under the auspices of a British organization. He is married to Therese Bizimana and is the father of Brown, who have been a part of the A2U2 community for the past year and a half.

On a wider front, he supported UU groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya through site visits and served on the task force on Ministerial and Theological Education. Under his leadership, an association of francophone Unitarians has been formed to serve and coordinate isolated groups in francophone Africa. He is currently a member of the International Council of Unitarian Universalists executive committee as a member at large and will be running for a second term in late in January 2014.

You're invited! Join us on Friday, January 24, from 5:30-8:00, for a potluck dinner and a celebration of everybody’s birthday. No matter when your birthday is, or how old you are, you’re invited to meet up with new and old friends for a meal, an introduction game, and cupcake decorating.

Gluten free cupcakes will be available, and potluck food will be labeled to make it easy to identify common allergens. Our game will use photos, so if you have a favorite photo or two of yourself, bring them along. If not, no worries- someone will be on hand with a camera to make sure everyone has a chance to get in on the fun.
