A yearly physical can save your life, early detection of prostate cancer is key to getting it treated and having a positive outcome. Randy had not had a regular checkup in 7 years, luckily he was persuaded by his wife to see his physician. http://fal.cn/2l_K
“I wish everyone diagnosed with prostate cancer could have the kind of experience I had. I was in the hospital just one day for surgery, and now I am cancer free."

Researchers found that babies who were prescribed antibiotics while they were breast-feeding or shortly afterward were prone to infections and obesity.

"In breast milk, unlike in formula milk, the infant receives bacteria from the mother and specific sugar components that promote the growth of certain [gut] bacteria," explained lead researcher Katri Korpela, from the immunobiology research program at the University of Helsinki in Finland.

The finding indicates that the health benefits of breast-feeding are largely due to how it helps a baby develop intestinal bacteria (microbiota), and that antibiotics disturb that development, she said. http://fal.cn/2aSq

Still recovering from childbirth, the Kalamazoo, Mich., woman was taken to the emergency room by her mother and was waiting for a doctor when her arm started to tingle. "I went to say something to my mom and all I could get out was, 'My arm feels like ummm, my arm feels like ummm.'" Eagly recalled. "The doctor asked my mom, 'Is she usually like this?'" http://fal.cn/2jdi

When we think of a heart-healthy diet, certain words come to mind: bland, tasteless and boring. Some think healthy eating means giving up everything that tastes good and replacing it with food that tastes like cardboard or Styrofoam.

But the truth is that if your heart-healthy diet doesn’t taste good, the missing ingredient is imagination. By experimenting a little, you can add tons of great flavor to foods and still be good to your heart. For example, if you are cutting down on salt to lower your blood pressure, and you find that everything tastes flat, try this easy recipe for a burst of flavor:

8 T onion powder
4 T celery seed
4 T paprika
3 T ground basil
4 T chili powder
4 T ground mustard

If you have cancer, heart disease or are in a car crash today, you are more likely to survive than you were 10 years ago. The opposite is true, if you are a victim of a firearm. Why is that? http://fal.cn/2awE

Will a hernia heal by itself? No, it will not. We tend to think of hernias as being the result of lifting heavy objects. In fact, they can have any number of causes, such as overexertion, coughing, surgery, trauma, or a natural weakness in the abdominal wall or in the inguinal or femoral canal. #MensHealth http://fal.cn/2_AR

Scott went in for a stress test, but he was unable to finish it because of difficulty breathing. He was then sent to Henry Ford Allegiance Health for a cardiac catheterization - a test to check blood flow to and from the heart - which showed significant blockages in his arteries and required open heart surgery.

Cardiovascular surgeon Vincent Simonetti, MD, further boosted Scott’s confidence by “walking me through the whole process and telling me exactly what to expect,” Scott said. “I bet him I would have the shortest hospital stay of any of his patients, but I ended up missing it by one day.” http://fal.cn/2ZSK
Scott Salow is one of the youngest people to have open-heart surgery at the Allegiance Heart and Vascular Center.
