Publican fights to save huge outback desert etching of the Marree Man
An outback publican says there may be just months left to preserve the Marree Man, an image bulldozed into the desert sands of South Australia 15 years ago.

Listen or read the full story: http://ab.co/1iIl1WD

Background on the Maree Man:
The Marree Man, or Stuart's Giant, is a modern geoglyph discovered by air on 26 June 1998. It appears to depict an indigenous Australian man hunting birds or wallabies with a throwing stick. It lies on a plateau at Finnis Springs 60 km west of the township of Marree in central South Australia. It is just outside the 127,000 square kilometres (49,000 sq mi) Woomera Prohibited Area. The figure is 4.2 km (2.6 mi) tall with a perimeter of 15 by 28 kilometres (9.3 × 17 mi). Although it is the second largest geoglyph in the world, its origin remains a mystery, with not a single witness to any part of the expansive operation. The name "Stuart's Giant" was given to it in a fax sent to the media anonymously by those believed to have created the figure, after John McDouall Stuart.

Wilderness Douchebag Identification System | Trail Sherpa   http://goo.gl/Ooa6Sr

We may understand and respect some deviations from our own behaviors but I'm sure we've all experienced behavior from some people that go way outside what we would expect from humans. In this post +Tim Miner labels and describes several of these behaviors. Perhaps you can think of a few others.

+Steve Emrick I had to Google those BDUs. They're great value. Unfortunately lots of gear available in the US is not easily available in Australia. Each trip I've taken to the US over the years I make sure I stock up on clothing I can't find in Australia.

One way to make your own entertainment on a road trip - silly really

We're on a road trip around the north island of New Zealand and staying in cabins in caravan parks.

After washing my hands at the toilet I used the wall mounted hot air hand dryer to dry my hands. A bin was sitting on the ground below the hand dryer. As soon as I removed my hands from below the hand dryer the stream of hot air was strong enough to spin the lid on the bin.

It was mildly amusing when there's no TV in your cabin.

I was searching for sardines in the cupboard but couldn't find any. Pink salmon was a good choice for sure.
