I assume this was after he smashed his glass by putting cold water into it while it was still hot from the dishwasher #genius ;)

Beside being a #Linux fan, I'm also a long time amateur photographer, since the time of film and fully manual SLR, yes, I'm used to camera controls and manual focus....    #Android

Today, as I was quietly at home, and wife and kid were already in bed, I decided to take some macro shots. But before, I wondered if there was any free or open-source software so I could connect the camera to the computer and shot it from there.

You can dump #Linux or #Unix server memory. This is useful for forensics analysis, and testing your own system. This is often desirable to see:

What code and what data actually resides in memory.
You can search for specific pids memory.
Search memory for string and other data such as passwords.
Works as add-on tool for gdb and others.
Search/replace/dump memory from running processes and core files.
All kinds of deep hacking activities that simply saves your time and solve problems.

Working in a top class Data centre, especially one of our calibre, and having a passion for photography it got me wondering.. I've been thinking of converting my old Canon EOS 350D to do IR photography, but never had a proper excuse to spend the cash required to get it converted.

Until I saw http://www.petersonpredict.com/tech_infraredimaging.php

This got me wondering, would it be possible to employ a similar procedure to inspect network cables? When you consider the speed and reliability requirements running over copper (even when using Cat6 or above) would it actually help?

Interesting read, and opens some interesting applications.. especially in regard to rural broadband. Of course for allot of communities we're still tied to the whims of our favorite telco.
