Art & Bytes is coming along. It is going to take some time for my social media focus to shift from my former persona, Alison Gilbert, to Alison D. Gilbert and my business identity from Alison*s Art and Marketing Bytes to Art & Bytes. I hope you will join me on the journey.

How NOT to Share A Post On Google Plus

If you are like me then you probably receive shared post notifications from a number of people on a daily basis.

Unfortunately these people do not understand Google Plus posting etiquette and check off the "email to circles" box on all of their posts.
For those that do not know this triggers an email to those people along with a Mr. Jingles notification in the side panel.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE DONE UNLESS YOU KNOW THEM AND THEY HAVE SAID IT IS OK TO DO SO!

If not then I guarantee you are pissing people off to the point where you are getting BLOCKED!

SO if you don't know me, have never commented on one of my posts, or have never shared anything I have written, why are you sending me your posts?

Please don't! If you post to public those in your circles who want to see the post will. If they like what you have to say they may socially interact with the post.

If for some reason you really want me to see your post then build a relationship with me first. I will more than likely add you to my circles and you won't have to try to scream in my face daily. That is what social media is about!

There are many in social media who just don't realize they are doing something they shouldn't be. Unfortunately unless they are told directly they are never going to learn.

Do you have people sending you posts that you don't care to see? Maybe it has nothing to do with what you are interested in or frankly just don't feel like being notified every time the person publishes something?

Here is your opportunity to let them know - in the comments below just write please stop and their name so they are notified!

A new feature of Alison*s Art & Bytes Blogsite, Back to Basics.
Back to Basics has become a necessity. For some it is a trend, a fad, even an adventure. But at the same time, it has become an imperative for many of us.

With over three decades as a graphic designer and three years as a social media marketing consultant, I have combined these two areas of expertise to provide custom designed graphics for social media platforms including facebook 'timelines for business' page covers, Google + banners for personal profiles and business pages, Wordpress web/blog banners and more.

THE 100 PERCENT SOLUTION ADVOCATE
The disparity between the 1% and the 99% has resulted in tremendous humanitarian inequities. It is the goal of this project  to work on finding a solution that will bring balance to our planet that will sustain a reasonable life, health, provide basic needs, peace, education, sufficient resources, etc.

MISSION
My mission is to help solve the economic crisis for small/local businesses through the use of social media to generate sales leads, increase business and improve the economy.

Bragging rights
Created, developed and marketed over a half dozen different business ventures and have loved everyone of them.

A bit off the beaten path since this is the actual brewery. It is open to the public once a week from 2 to 7 pm on Wednesdays. There is a tasting corner with a view of the entire brewery. Wiped out by Hurricane Sandy, Barrier is newly up and running again. Evan and Sean have gone a great job. The place is shining and brand new again. In spite of the hurricane disaster, colleagues helped them keep going brewing a unique beer with an upstate brewery. Local LI brewers joined with them to create Surge Protector. In the craft beer industry, they are a local find and one that prides itself in contributing to the beer lover's palate.

This shop has a surprisingly large selection of Asian foods, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. I was pleased to find it but was disappointed in the service. It reminded me of NY Chinatown shopping, Asians served first. Maybe it was just an off day. I would not avoid going just because my experience was less than friendly. Still a great selection of food and supplies.

The food is unsurpassed. The pizza is old fashioned style and served by the pie only. The decor is the original marble topped tables, tile floors and other details from decades ago when the restaurant opened. We love their salads so much that we often go for lunch and just have the salads for two for each of us. The ambiance is informal and delightful. This is one of our favorite restaurants in RVC.

Wow, our first experience eating Ethiopian food and what a find. Loved everything about it. Highly recommend it. Excellent food, good service and reasonable prices. Although we went at a quite time, I am sure it is quite the lively atmosphere with music and entertainment in the evning.
