Calling all medicinal chemists...can you help us to decide on a good synthetic route for the series four amides?
Blog Post here: http://malaria.ourexperiment.org/uri/44b
GitHub thread here: https://github.com/OpenSourceMalaria/OSM_To_Do_List/issues/101
Thanks a lot!

P.S...if you would like to sign up for GitHub, instructions are here: http://malaria.ourexperiment.org/uri/42b
The team want to synthesise some amides based on the data from the CRO and Pfizer on the series four triazolopyrazines. Some synthesis data on known compound MMV670652 was available from the CRO, however, so far no experimental data has been provided for the amides (example below and here).

The team are trying to tie up the (or even better discover an amazing new representative) aminothienopyrimidine.

+Mike Robins has written an awesome new (and open) voting tool for members of the community to vote for favourite compounds:
http://115.146.93.123/quiz/
Please vote if you get chance and post any feedback here, on the comments to the blog or tweet us @O_S_M. Your feedback on the voting platform are also very welcome.
Cheers
Team OSM
At the end of May, an open consultation was held to decide the next aminothienopyrimidines for synthesis as part of the OSM project. The team postulate that this round of synthesis might be the last for the aminothienopyrimidines (ATPs) and want to select the 'best' compounds to give a detailed ...

Patentless open competitions and prizes (with an emphasis on drug discovery)
I recently read Future Perfect by Steven Johnson. The book articulates what is meant by a person being a "Peer Progressive" - someone with a set of values based on the power of distributed networks...

Fancy a medchemathon this weekend? Can you help us.....yes you can!

Are you a medicinal chemist? Can you help us to select our next round of compounds for synthesis? The OSDDMalaria team needs you!
A summary of the status of our aminothienopyrimidine series is posted here: http://malaria.ourexperiment.org/uri/39f
Vote for your favourite compounds or suggest new ones here.
Many Thanks

From the fairly extensive list of m-boronic acids, all of these compounds would be accessible and perhaps with the right PG strategy they could all be synthesised from one of the building blocks. ClogP all look good and all feature carbonly group and H-bond donor (or masked donor) in similar position to OSM-S-106. Any thoughts?

Write up of a recent meeting for the +Open Source Malaria project

Short write-up of my satellite session at #okcon that took place at #WHO on open approaches to drug discovery. Video and longer article coming. It was interesting and productive - we had 35 of the right people in the room and being constructive while disagreeing, including +Alice Williamson +Katrina Badiola +Patrick Thomson +George Papadatos Peter Murray-Rust
New ways of developing affordable medicines were the subject of a meeting held recently at TDR. Experts from a variety of fields, including law, pharmaceutical development, ethics and national medical delivery, came together to explore how drug discovery can be done in an open and collaborative manner. Today, the internet can provide more access to data and introduce efficiencies in drug screening, discovery and development. However, policies an...
