#NameTag , an app among a few others of the same type built for Google Glass, is projected to offer a face scanner for encounters with strangers.
Basically the idea is to be able to take a snapshot of someone's face and be able to load informations about him/her on the fly. But isn't what is initially intended to be a friendly initiative, susceptible to turn into a real privacy crisis ?
With Google Glass, you can look deeply into a potential mate’s eyes and see whether he’s a sex offender.

A great article on how a password used by you that you believe is hard to guess, can be so easily crackable. The article describes very well the processes of #cracking #passwords and explains clearly the world of passwords and how they are protected as well as how they are cracked.
For Ars, three crackers have at 16,000+ hashed passcodes—with 90 percent success.

This is beyond ridiculous, according to the following article: On May 20 alone, for instance, RIAA member companies sent 17 separate takedown notices to Google, with thousands of URLs in each notice. Eight of the notices had more than 10,000 links each.

Will #MPAA/#RIAA stop some day for a while and realize that they are fighting a war that is lost in advance.
Group complains it shouldn't have to send "a thousand notices for the same song."

Around a week ago an article at /. pointed out that the #heise Security, with a little experiment, have been able to demonstrate that Microsoft visited HTTPs URLs sent over #Skype. What this means is that "anyone who uses Skype has consented to the company reading everything they write." and that "The H's associates in Germany at heise Security have now discovered that the Microsoft subsidiary does in fact make use of this privilege in practice." In fact Microsoft accesses messages containing HTTPs URLs sent over the Skype network. Microsoft's answer on the matter was that they did this to check for spam and harmful messages. The following article clarifies the matter.

"NASA has bestowed a $125,000 grant upon a research corporation to pursue the development of 3D-printable food, according to a report from Quartz. Anjan Contractor, who runs Systems & Materials Research Corporation, hopes to design a system that will turn shelf-stable cartridges of sugars, complex carbs, and protein into edible food on demand."

I don't know about you, but this sounds freaky to me. I can't help but think that food will loose something along the process if this comes true someday, say like its value or valor. Where is the world headed, I wonder sometimes.
Grant money goes to see if we can't print perfect, nutritious food.

Bad news is bad news, Google drops XMPP protocol in their new Hangouts version. This means you will no longer be able to communicate with other XMPP protocol (jabber) using clients.
More info on the matter inside the following article as well as an extensive list of what all this means.

Very nice and useful comic about a life morality.

[Feel-Good Friday: Make Friends With Failure]

"Success is a sign you're ready to learn something new, and failure is a sign you're learning something new. You can't always succeed the first time, but you can fail less each time you try."

See the full, inspiring comic on making friends with failure here:

As a type-A, overachieving perfectionist, facing failure (both my fear and avoidance of it, and coping with it when it does happen) has been one of my biggest struggles. Reading this sweet comic was really useful. Hope it helps some of you, too!

Hollywood studios asked Google to take down links pointing to The Pirate Bay documentary TPB-AFK, a free to download documentary by Simon Klose, even though the concerned Hollywood studios hold no rights over the documentary in question.

Thanks to a new invention, cell phones and other battery relying appliances may become less a pain when the battery charging time comes. Icing on the cake the battery in question can last "10,000 charge-recharge cycles, compared with 1,000 cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries".
Waiting hours for a cellphone to charge may become a thing of the past, thanks to an 18-year-old high-school student's invention. She won...
