Symmetry is an important aspect of what makes a face naturally attractive. Apparently drinking affects the part of the brain responsible for detecting symmetry and the result is deceptive, false beauty.
A study conducted with 64 students confirmed this. While sober students had no problems distinguishing between a symmetrical face and an asymmetrical face, the task was more difficult for those intoxicated, and seemed to affect women more than men.
