Woo, free ice cream in London all week!

Keep an eye out for the +Ben & Jerry's ice cream truck for the next six days! They're popping up at several London locations — from the Southbank to Spitalfields — handing out free ice cream while stocks last.

Movie Recomendations  -

Has anyone else seen Spanish 70s horror La Cabina? It's only 40 minutes long but immensely chilling. You can find copies with subtitles but they're not necessary to understand the film.

Enjoy!

One of the best restaurant meals I've had in ages. Mmm, duck ragu.
TOZI
8 Gillingham St, City of Westminster, SW1V 1HJ
Amazing Italian food in a beautiful restaurant, TOZI is a total gem in the foodie wilderness of Victoria. They specialise in sharing plates and platters, so you can try lots of different dishes. Usually this bugs me (sharing food can be a social minefield), but it meant that we got to try most of the amazing menu - and that could only have been a good thing.

Highlights for me included the pizzetta, like mini pizzas, topped with bacon and ricotta. Slightly dirty, but in a very very good way. Minced salt cod served with grilled polenta was also delicious. But my absolute favourite had to be gnocchi with duck ragu - the ultimate comfort food. The well-priced cocktails are also worth trying, especially the watermelon and aperol concoction if it's a warm day.

Staff were incredibly warm and knowledgeable about the menu, too. My only regret is that I didn't leave enough room to try dessert!

+Alexandra Sheppard Thank you, but I actually bought a copy at the airport on the way to Mexico. However, I ended up sleeping on the beach/splashing in the water and didn't do any reading on that trip. :-/

Love today's Maurice Sendak #GoogleDoodle ! Also, this story via Wikipedia (and +Adam Jacob):

A little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, 'Dear Jim: I loved your card.' Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said: 'Jim loved your card so much he ate it.' That to me was one of the highest compliments I've ever received. He didn't care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.

I know the last thing this town needs is another burger pop-up but oh em geeeeee, look at that menu!

New in Town: Psychic Burgers, Dalston

The latest pop-up diner to hit east London is taking residence in Dalston's Birthdays (http://goo.gl/9bzrM). With a menu consisting of salted caramel Belgian waffles, smoked fried chicken and gin-cured salmon salad, we expect it to fill up fast!

I was on my way to the canal and saw two young men, at least one of whom was called Alfie, wearing cardboard pirate ships around their respective waists and, inexplicably, a tiger romper suit and a penguin romper suit...

I spent rest of the afternoon in the Earl of Essex. I have no regrets.

Excellent as it was, Lewis Carroll’s iconic children’s book ‘Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland’ was missing one key element: bikes.

I love this little vintage clothes shop in Crouch End - the stock is all good stuff and very well-curated. Expect to find everything from halter neck sun dresses to men's sports jackets. They also sell a few bits and pieces for the home; I bought a lovely French kilner jar here for £12.

This unassuming cafe does an excellent line in cooked breakfasts and sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Scrambled eggs served on two doorstep slices of granary bread cost around £4.50, and my delicious falafel, houmous and chilli jam panini was about the same. It leans more towards veggie/organic ingredients, so be warned that this isn't the place for a fry-up. Staff were pleasant enough, and the outdoor seating area is a lovely place to be on a sunny weekend.

I guess you could do worse than The Haggerston but it wouldn't be my first choice. The inside is a bit glum, and the outside has those annoyingly wobbly benches that are a nightmare to navigate. The staff were a bit on the smarmy side but I guess that's to be expected in these parts. In future I'll be heading to The Fox just down the road.

Really lovely, unpretentious little pub tucked away in Kentish Town. We were there to eat at the Lucky Chip residency (burgers, deep-fried cheese, that sort of thing) but the pub is worth visiting anyway. On a Saturday afternoon it was quietly busy with the odd pram, so get in there early if you want to visit with a large group.

On a Friday night The Fox was full to bursting, but we managed to find a table on the smoker's terrace upstairs - a really nice spot when it's warm out. The downstairs has all the hipster accoutrements (food on boards, bunting and taxidermy) but it still felt like a pleasant place to be. I didn't try the food but the menu looked good, and friends were pleased with the selection of craft beer on offer. Unfortunately drinkers must come inside around 11am, at which point the downstairs area becomes impossible to drink in and we left.

Could this be the most gorgeous pub in Kentish Town? The Assembly House doesn't give much away from the outside, but inside it's all high ceilings, baroque wallpaper and lovely prints. It should look like a car boot sale gone wrong, but the effect is really cosy. Well-priced drinks and plenty of seating makes it really tough to leave this pub. I haven't eaten here, but the food menu looked very enticing too.

A really lovely pub just a few minutes away from the madness of Dalston. On a sunny day, grab one of their benches outside (I don't think there's a proper garden) or sit inside - you'll have a lovely time regardless. Prices are far more reasonable than other Islington pubs, and they have an interesting range of beers if that's your thing.
