More news from the Steam sales front: The Dead Linger, my personal choice of post-zombie apocalypse survival game (as opposed to Seven Days to Die or Rust, both of which look kind of crap to me) is on sale for 35% off, making it a fat $13 if you want to get in to what is still a fairly late alpha/mid-beta in a zombie apocalypse that still has the power to make me more than a little nervous when I'm playing it with the lights out.

Seriously, this thing is damn tense. It's Romero-zombie tense. Maybe you'll just see a few zeds wandering around in the front yard, maybe just sort of shambling through town. You skirt the edge, possibly just sort of taking one out with a baseball bat or ask that you found lying in a barn. You move in on the house. The front door's closed. You walk up to it and begin to open it slowly (because you can open doors slowly in this game) and it makes that creak noise – you know the one, the one that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. A slow, creaking door opening, and behind it… You just don't know. Maybe a zombie jumps forward and tries to eat your face. Maybe there's nothing but a sparsely decorated living room and you really need to make your way into the kitchen or upstairs in the bedrooms to find any of the picked over leftovers. And maybe up the stairs, you glance over to the side and out the front window and see a zed shambling your way, in no hurry, maybe moaning a little bit.

Then you make that right, open the bathroom door in the middle of the hallway, and BAM – zombie eating your face. You would've noticed the thumping and moaning noises in the bathroom if you have to been looking out the window and thinking about the zombie coming in the ground floor, but now you have a zombie in a bathroom eating your face.

Tense, I'm telling you. Tense.

Yes, it has co-op multiplayer. No, it doesn't run on Mac natively.
