Ever wondered what monks know about marriage?
From a homily of St. John Chrysostom on marriage: You have heard how important obedience is; you have praised and marveled at Paul, how he welds our whole life together, as we would expect from an admirable and spiritual man. You have done well. But now lis...

OFFICIAL WIFE: Laundry, How Exciting!
"Wow! We finally finished putting up laundry!" "Only to get ready to do it again next week!" After a moment I said, "You do know how some define insanity..." Laundry can drive you insane . Bewarned. Stawp. Bathing. NOW. You see that trail up above? I'd like...

In response to last week's cease and desist letter, General Counsel for the American Family Association, Patrick Vaughn, sent the following email to me this morning:

Dear Mr. Ignatiev:

In response to your letter dated May 14, 2014, AFA has removed the statements from its press release to which you objected.  AFA has replaced the previous post with the following statement and list: http://action.afa.net/Detail.aspx?id=2147545693; http://action.afa.net/item.aspx?id=2147545307.
I trust that you will find that these new posts accurately convey the competing ideas represented by the stickers and avoid attributing any statement or motive to your clients.

Sincerely,

Patrick Vaughn
General Counsel
American Family Association

As a result of these changes, my clients are not contemplating further action against the American Family Association at this time.  But as all small business owners, we all need to remember that our reputations are our livelihoods. This is a case in point where taking early affirmative action helped stop overheated rhetoric from becoming a costly lawsuit.

Golly, I don't know. Is it rare?
Well, it's not unusual...
When I was younger I went through a period where I wanted to sleep all the time so they took me to the doctor. DIAGNOSIS: Anemic PRESCRIPTION: Eat a plate of fried chicken livers every Sunday after church. Yes, that's actuall...

On Wednesday, May 14, 2014, I sent the attached Cease and Desist letter to the American Family Association, objecting to certain defamatory language in their press release concerning the "if you're buying, we're selling" campaign in Mississippi. We hope that a restrained and accurate response to the AFA's hyperbole will help refocus the discussion away from the AFA's alarmist language, and to the sensibility of state protections that duplicate federal protections.  The Mississippi Religious Freedom Restoration Act is a purely symbolic enactment, since it duplicates in operative language Congress's Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This point of analysis is not in dispute.

The issue I am concerned about as a Christian is not whether I will be martyred for Christ; rather, I concern myself with the question of whether I will martyr other people in Christ's name.

In my opinion the AFA is a group of fucking idiots who have no other way to make a living than by exploiting and promoting bigotry and other off shoot areas that ignorant people are afraid of. They are the one thing about this town that makes me a little ashamed to admit I grew up here.
