Have a look at this short animated by Steve Cutts. Odds are that many of you already know it, as it's got fairly high views on YouTube since 2012. Enjoy - well... kind of.
Steve Cutts’ most popular film MAN -an animated frenzy of man’s societal pitfalls, with over 13 million hits on YouTube since it was uploaded in 2012- touches the raw nerve of every conventional environmentalist and animal rights activist. The wittily-animated film looks at man’s relationship with …

Just for those who didn't already know...
Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people. Unlike most of the party games you've played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends.

To create a strong AI, we will first have to create and employ a gigantic AI-kindergarten. Check out my video for more details on what I have in mind:

I might add, that an interesting book that somewhat fits with the "structuring" part of "clear", "dark" and "opaque" levels of an AI would be Tor Norretranders' "The User Illusion" - https://books.google.at/books?id=1GxbZZ64KyUC&q=the+user+illusion&dq=the+user+illusion&hl=de&sa=X&ei=qDhUVbr_KsS0Ue7SgdgF&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAA

Opening Richard Rorty's "Contingency, irony and solidarity" I just got second hand, I read the text given below... now - aside from the falsity of the first sentence, I'd need some help deciphering the last word of the second sentence.... ;)... no honestly!

Let's see what we can make out.
The first letter seems like a D.
The second letter seems like an R or an E. I'm leaning toward R.
The last letter is either a Y or a G. I'm leaning toward G.

The squiggles in the middle could be anything. Some combination of U or N or L.

It looks like "druning." That makes no sense though.
But it's best to state what we see and go from there.

AI Research  -

The rise of soft computing - neuromorphic circuits, or memristor-based networks in this case- seems to continue.

To me it sounds like a good application for the memristors on small scales. Sounds from the article like we need a form of cellular automata that is clever enough to reproduce its processing capabilities. I know this is kind of trivial but I wrote a simulated non-Von Neumann machine for doing shop floor simulation on a bit-sliced processor-based programmable logic controller. It's programming was created in a pseudo language that existed in memory with data. PLCs typically solve one line of if-then-result bit logic at a time then after all the program has run it reads and writes to an I/O matrix. We needed a way to emulate the shop floor process in a very flexible way, even simulating "impossible" events. Rather than try and model every device which was way outside our budget I wrote a kind of scenario processor in which the process being emulated need not be modeled just the behavioral aspects that we wanted the upper level systems to react to. Then when it was deemed that we had determined the states for all I/O necessary the results of that time slice were dumped all at once to the real I/O matrix. I had commands that took many fractions of a real world time slice to execute, commands to alter the scenario based upon sub time slice evens and many more. Since my program executed in its own "time" we could stop and stop the simulation in place, make code and data changes, and then continue with higher level systems being totally unaware that time had halted and its environment changed without its knowledge. It started as something to do in the boredom why other teams were testing and winded up being their primary means of testing and troubleshooting. I was new to the group then but was delighted to see an idea be adopted that I created as a theoretical plaything. Self modifying code can be next to impossible to debug but not when it was being emulated by a Von Neumann machine.

+Richard Taylor - obviously Google+ took the first best picture it could find while posting... which - upon seeing what it had chosen - also led me to suspect this was about sex.  But I got converted by +Josh Strigle after all. Now I can see, that it was my mistake too. ;)

The Pew Research Center's research report on the fading role of religion in America is also available as a pdf at http://www.pewforum.org/files/2015/05/RLS-05-08-full-report.pdf
Might these numbers already indicate a snowball-effect at the beginning of the end of religion or just be some short-term trend?
The Christian share of the U.S. population is declining, while the share of Americans who do not identify with any organized religion is growing. These changes affect all regions in the country and many demographic groups.

If this trend continues as it has over the last seven years then unaffiliated will reach 50% of the population by 2043. Of course it is difficult to track trends accurately with only two data points. 2043 will also see Mainline Protestants disappear completely.

Let's talk about "war is the father of all things" - I think it was Heraklit who coined the term... now... we're facing - according to some sources - the next mass-extinction (just any link for the given topic: e.g: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0016328709001074)
Did WW2 and the baby-boomers actually confound our society to such a large degree, that it's become all too natural that the inherent dynamics of society is: try to accomplish as long as viability is provided - grow, grow, grow!
Now, wouldn't that be kind of "naive"?
So, what did we learn of history, and how much are historic models generalizeable?
TL;TR: given mediocre historic knowledge - what could stop us from repeating the big mistakes of the past?
