So, I did a little research, and the volumes of the first arc of Berserk that feature the Behelit, and how it works predates the start of development on the original Final Fantasy Tactics. My suspicion is that the Zodiac Stones were inspired by the Behilits.

I've been re-watching the Mad Max films in preparation for the upcoming release of Fury Road. I think there's a good possible Fanzine article on the worldbuilding in these films - not only how each film on its own develops the world, but how the world progresses from film to film.

Absolutely... I thought the jolt from 1 to 2 was disconcerting when I was younger, but 3 was a nice follow on from 2. Now that I'm older and understand more of the references about 1 being the time of the Apocalypse with everything slowly collapsing around Max, it seems to make more sense. It'll be interesting to see where 'Fury Road' fits in the scheme of things.

Great review, and was that a reference to Arkada?

Great timing on this video, as recently we had the EFF trying to get a DMCA exception to allow people to break DRM to create their own servers for old PC games that, previously, had dedicated servers but no longer have them as either the game's publisher shut them down, or because the game was "Powered by GameSpy" and GameSpy is no longer A Thing That Exists.

The ESA, who is ultimately responsible for giving the "Yea" or "Nay" to the DMCA exception request, said no, which ties back into the point about corporations using the "kragle of copyright" (should that be "Kragle of Kopyright"?) in order to freeze the status of a particular work, and keep old things old and, ultimately, making us, as players, continue to have to buy the new versions of the old things - even if someone wants to keep playing NFL 2KWhatever on the Xbox over the latest version of Madden on the XB1.

And, you can add on top of that the question of whether Copyright will end up causing for video games a problem like what the film industry has with preserving its history - much of the first 50 years of film is missing, due to poor archival practices by film studios (the documentary "Those Amazing Shadows" gets into this and if you haven't watched it you totally should). Could we see something like that happen again, as bit rot, server shutdowns, and lost code causes more of the history of video games as an artform and medium to be lost, due to DMCA copyright blocks making it harder to archive the hard data and transform it to another medium for preservation?

New film review this week, as I take a look at John Wick - the film, not the RPG designer.

I found out about Ristar when it was included in the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection set for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and played it for the first time there. I'm really glad I picked up the collection and the game is a great part of it. Also, one of the bonus features in the collection is an interview with one of the game's designers, so if you haven't picked up the collection before, that might make it worth picking up (along with all the other bonus features in the collection).

+Alexander Case You know, I've known about Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection but was honestly unaware of any bonus content... that's pretty sweet!

I agree with your assessment. David Cage is much more of an auteur game developer, and Quantic Dream is very much tied up in Cage's vision as a game developer. If David Cage decides to leave or shut down Quantic Dream (in the same way that Irrational was shut down) because he wants to work on other stuff, Sony's investment goes down the drain.

Excellent onion rings, and their Teriyaki burger was excellent. The prices are comparable to other upper end burger places like Five Guys & Wow Burger. Would definitely go again.

Very good fries, and very well made burgers & shakes. However, I recommend avoiding their "onion stack" - which is basically a giant pile of onion straws (like what you might put on a steakhouse-style burger).
