This is excellent work and excellent tutorial, thanks very much.
Remember that you can import and overlay multiple base layers, such as initial geo-location and additional ground imagery,  property lines or other boundaries, and site plan / plan view of structures to be modeled.
You can set faces to x-ray view, and then  see through the various layers to scale and make congruent. In fact Sketchup will do a very good job of snapping identical shapes in the layers, such as roads or waterways, to help you with getting all to the same scale.
Then, when you have all the base layers synchronized, you can trace a porperty line, or road, or waterway, onto your plan view layer as needed.
