Hmm, just noticed that Google+ makes terrible usage of large monitors. On my 27" Thunderbolt display, it's about 50% blank.

A reminder to all the Aussie haskellers out there, AusHac is starting this Friday at Atlassian in Sydney, and continues over the weekend. If you're interested in coming, see the announcement email [1] and the signup form at [2]. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions. I'm really looking forward to seeing you all again!

We know you’ve been holding your breaths for this (hopefully none of you have passed out though!) for quite a while... but we’re pleased to announce that we’re finally getting around to announcing AusHac 2012!

Please share this around with anyone you think may be interested.

This year, we’re moving AusHac to Sydney proper: Atlassian has kindly offered the use of their offices next to Darling Harbour, so there’s more places to stay and eat than in previous years!

It’s right across the harbour from Google’s headquarters where FP-Syd is hosted, and we’re starting on the Friday after next month’s FP-Syd.

When: Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd of July
Where:
Atlassian
173/185 Sussex Street
Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
(02) 9262 1443
Map: http://goo.gl/maps/JoNg

If you're looking for places to stay, check out AirBnB (http://www.airbnb.com), the prices are very reasonable (around $100/night within walking distance of Atlassian if you’re lucky).

This year we’d like to see a few more talks on interesting things people are working on (Yes, the stuff you are working on IS interesting, and we want to hear about it!). If you’d like to give a talk, please let us know in the sign up sheet.

Speaking of which, here it is: http://tinyurl.com/AusHac2012SignUp Please let us know if you’re considering coming along, so we can organise things like adequate power etc.

We’d love for you to come along for the whole time or just a few hours, we’re happy for people to drop in when they want, on any day. The more people we have come along, the more awesome it will be.

We hope to see you there!

Cheers,
Alex Mason and Ivan Miljenovic

For anyone who'd like to come along to AusHac 2012, we need your help! We need to decide on dates soon, and we'd like to pick omens which suite as many people as we can.

So fill out the form, and we'll let you know what's been decided.

+Kev Milden I'm really loving Raven, makes keeping the number of extra tabs I have open in Safari a hell of a lot easier. There's one feature that I think is essential though, and that's having Raven remember what tabs I had open before quitting. It's pretty much the one thing I'd need for me to be able to completely replace Safari for things like Google+.

Finally managed to get my HP MicroServer to boot the FreeBSD installer from a thumb drive. Only problem now seems to be that I have no access to the ethernet port...

Possibly volunteering at YOW!2011 so I can hopefully meet SPJ. Doing so would be very awesome, but just attending would be worth it.

Just managed to boot a fairly ancient 500MHz UltraSPARC IIe using net boot from an OpenBSD VM running on my MacBook Pro. If only my SCSI disk would hurry up and arrive so I can have something to install the OS onto. It seems old SPARCs don't support booting from USB drives.
