Introduction
Alex Leavitt is a PhD student and researcher at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California. He studies social media, online youth culture, and alternative uses of networked technology and new media. 

Recently he was a researcher with danah boyd at Microsoft Research New England, a Lead Researcher on the Web Ecology Project, and a researcher at the Comparative Media Studies department at MIT.
