I can't believe +Opeth's Blackwater Park is 13 years old. It's only gotten better with age. (Very light headbanging at my desk) #deskjams

I totally forgot about Megafaun after being blown away by them a couple years ago opening for Menomena. Glad I remembered them this morning. #deskjams

Very nicely done +HootSuite. The way to my heart is through +Game of Thrones references.

A year ago, we at HootSuite showed just how much we love Game of Thrones with our Social Media Winter is Coming infographic. The infographic was a visual representation of the quiet battles being fought between many social networks, who were building walls and blocking access between their respective sites and apps.

That graphic was a hit with the social media community, so we knew we had to take things up a notch for this season’s premiere. Enter the Game of Social Thrones video.

This clip is inspired by the beautiful opening sequence of the hit HBO show (whose 4th season premieres on April 6th!). The animated clip portrays some of the world’s biggest social networks as kingdoms (which, let’s be honest, they kind of are). Just like at the start of the show, geometric buildings emerge section by section from a flat plane as you fly over them from above. Each of the kingdoms has unique characteristics and features unique to the social network they represent, from Google’s YouTube coliseum to the big job market of LinkedIn. There are also a few hidden easter eggs — see how many you can find.

Enjoy the video, share it with your friends using the hashtag #GameOfSocial, and let us know which kingdom you would want to live in!

Story
Tagline
I geek out about stuff, I ride my bikes, I love the internet. My home is California.
Introduction
I grew up in the SF Bay Area, moved to New Orleans to experience a new way of living, and am now back in California a wholly new person. Ready to take on challenges and always continue learning.

Things I believe:
  • The ability to innovate is one of the most valuable things a person can have.
  • Economics, while flawed in many ways, is under appreciated and understanding economic theories of human actions is essential to working well with others.
  • Bikes can change the world.
  • I'll make it to space within my lifetime.

Great place for some fast take out. I went standard, getting a spicy tuna, california, and a custom vegetarian roll (a very nice option to have). Sushi was good, ready for pickup in 15 minutes, and reasonably priced. Service was friendly but quick because they were busy, even at 8:00 on a Sunday! Can't ask for more in a quick sushi run.

Yeah! Perfect place to get supplies for your weekend hangouts in Dolores Park. Good wine and cheese selection with fresh baked bread so you can pretend to be european. Staff was friendly and helpful, even if they were just trying to shuffle people through the store as fast as possible. Gets crowded! Pro-tip: buy lots and make friends at the park. Sharing is caring.

Good place for shows. I saw a metal show here in Oct. 2013 and was happy with the venue. Really beautiful room and I could see a whole bunch of different events going on there.

Went here over the weekend and had an very good bowl of pho and bubble tea! The Pho was good, not insanely good, but super filling and just what I needed. I really freaked out about the bubble tea though since there aren't many places in New Orleans that I know serve it.

Cool bar! Really knowledgeable bar tenders helped us pick out our wines for the night. I don't know much about wine but was with a wine-snob who tried a bunch of things and enjoyed them. Waiters even poured and let us sample to decide. Good experience and I'd go back.

Really fantastic restaurant. I'm fairly new to sushi but know enough to tell that this stuff is great. Go during happy hour. Our group got half off wine and a bunch of rolls. We gorged and were easily under $40 per person with wine, apps, TONS of sushi, and even the cookie dough roll for desert!

Super delicious Chai Tea and super comfy chair. I'm enjoying both right now! Good selection and some delicious looking breads that I'm tempted to go buy...
