Here's the story of how XDA protected a thief because he generated some traffic and possibly connected to a famous custom ROM

This thief is no other than XDA TV producer and RC rirozizo

Few days ago, he was caught in multiple videos showcasing notorious apps used for ripping off hard working developers such as aptoide and lucky patcher

If you don't know what Aptoide and Lucky Patcher are, a quick google search will show you exactly what they are

I posted things here to let people know and maybe he would be a human being and feel bad and take down his videos, apologize and start doing things right again.

NO, +rirozizo instead reshared my posts and said "ignorance is bliss" on both posts.

I went into one of reshares and began telling him that he was a piece of shit for ripping off developers. He quickly denied using these apps and tired to play stupid.

After I did a few other members of the Open Source community went in and questioned him and after denying it once again, he finally admitted it. He said that he lived in some shit hole country blah blah blah and supposedly that's why he stealing apps.

I took this to XDA because he had admitted fault and I believed this would definitely force XDA to take action and strip this theif of his titles, boy was I wrong.

My thought was "why would XDA want a thief as a XDA producer and even a RC". I figured this would be a clear cut report.

So I reported this thief as you can see in the link below......
https://plus.google.com/+AlexCruz/posts/1unibe9bWU8

After some talking to some people around the community while I waited for XDA to "talk", I found the dude is affiliated with famous custom ROM, Slim ROMs

My thought again is, why would a famous ROM that's done so much good in the community want to be associated with someone like this?

This shit doesn't add up so I started digging deeper. Turns out that he's nothing more than a IRC babysitter.

"As Slim's main IRC user support"
http://rirozizo.blogspot.com/2014/07/types-of-users-on-irc.html

I started looking at his twitter and I see him telling someone that this entire thing was sorted

"It's already sorted."
https://twitter.com/rirozizo_isock/status/720137649579642880

So it was at this time that I hit up a moderator and ask what was going on because this dude is bragging that he got off. Clearly I'm like WTF, there must be a mistake.....no way is XDA going to let someone off that has ripped off developers.

I mean, after all XDA is the site that claims to be "for developers, by developers" right? Is THE developer site or say they claim......

Anyways, I hear from the moderator and they tell me

"Not all.. This is not done and over nor is the report closed (you would have received a PM with a closing statement in reference to the report). I'm not sure what's given him the impression as you say, that it's over but I and the other SM are currently discussing this situation."

So I'm like OK, I was afraid he was going to get a slap in the wrist unlike every thief that's ever been banned on XDA. I had thought there's still some hope and XDA might not fuck this up. They may tackle this pirate and keep the interest of developers in mind.

So I wait a bit, go do some things with crowdin and bullshit a bit on Slack with some of my peoples.

Check XDA and I another PM. I'm thinking "cool, they finally see what I see and this is the PM telling me that they took care of it"

NOPE!!!

I get this reply from the moderator I spoke to earlier.....

"This situation has been addressed, and the member has been informed to be more cognizant of what he provides to the public, while representing XDA. It is not our job to police the personal use of his device nor his off-site activities. However, being a recognized member of this site, he should not be alluding to the fact that he supports it himself (on XDA). The videos as you know, were not done in an effort to promote warez and is nothing more than a poor oversight on his part.

Should this type of situation ever happen again on XDA, please report it so that further action can be taken."

They tell me that it was "poor oversight on his part". That XDA was OK with the shit and that the only thing that he regrets is being caught.

As you can see, the thief is still an RC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2722834 and still making videos for XDA as a XDA TV producer

Moral of the story

You can steal from developers, get caught and as long as you're bringing in traffic for them, you can get away with it. XDA won't treat you the same way they treat people that don't bring in traffic.

All these rules have an asterisk next to them. There's double standards and it all depends on who you are.

+rirozizo admitted to stealing apps. I went thru the proper channels and reported this and +xda-developers still did nothing! He kept his titles and probably took to the Slim IRC to laugh at how he got away with shit..........

Thanks for clearing up!

The "aim" that XDA has (or had?) is awesome, but smh everything is going in the wrong direction.
Recognized Devs/Contrs/whatevers represent the whole xda portal (imo) .. imagine how many users get influenced of him. And xda allows this to move on?

Wrong way xda, wrong way

What a joke. It's one of the benefits of being nowhere near XDA for the last near year.

As a recognized xda member myself, I can honestly say I'm severely dissaponted in the way xda handled things lately. I had a post removed for no reason in an private forum (I'm halfway afraid to say more than that because of the powers that be). This is the new culture of xda. Support devs? No. Support idiots? Yes. See XDA assist.

And this is why some people turn against the xda rules and take matters into there own hands. The old "do as I say, not as I do" BS!

It's funny that for people to get even an ounce of the real story they'd have to come to g+. Post any of this on xda it gets immediately moderated. Yet you post some dumbass lucky patcher video, shits allowed to fly. Talk about double standards

Yeah I'm sure if I was to post this on XDA, JJD and all them asshats will take this down and call it "drama" then ban me but this ass clown can post videos of apps clearly designed to rip off developers and he gets off and gets to keep his titles and all....... +Surge Raval

I really don't know what to say to all this shit.

Again, guys just quit XDA. We all know about their double standards, that they have senior mods that are plain asholes and that they have been on a downhill spiral for years.

XDA was fun years ago, now it is a cesspool of people that cannot get shit done IRL and need to hide behind their PCs and play creators and gatekeepers.

To me, they are mere secretaries with way too much wanted power and people backing them and okaying their misconduct.

If you can't change it, leave it. #FuckXDA and their damn wanna be titles RC and RT. They never meant shit anyhow.

Oh and if XDA is watching this - remember what I told you when the JJD threatened me? Still true. I told you shit like this will always surface. Didn't listen.

Such thievery, those scoundrels... 😔😖😞😟😢😩

The JJD wiil be along shortly to start speaking in 3rd person and passing judgment...

All in all, dude knew he was wrong.. Knew what that app did and is trying to justify whatever and TPTB are just letting him slide.
Shit, I'm not saying that having apps that bypass paying is right but damn,if you're too stupid to hide it on a video do you really need to be doing videos for a large ,Android hacks/news website?

Personally, I think XDA is a little bit desperate for traffic since they don't seem to be getting a lot except for when something big happens. Allowing thievery to boost site visits is not cool. But I've kind of expected it of XDA...all the good people seem to have left.

if asshats like him will still keep their RC just after beeing catched within this public whistle-blowing ...I dont want to be titled as RT anymore. thats not that xda "family"that I want to be a part of. :-/

Am I the only one who can't stop looking at that unibrow?

I used to be proud to be a RC but it's been an embarrassment for awhile now. Double let standards, shit talking behind the scenes yet saying that it's wrong and against the rules to do that. Seemed it was only wrong when they got caught doing it, not the actual act that was committed. I'm surprised I still ha e the RC title since I haven't contributied in a long time.

Left XDA a while ago since real developers are few and far between. As someone who started back when keyboards only had a one and zero, seeing what passed as a developer on there just made me shake my head. I'm glad people can take others code and compile it, or change an XML file, but a developer that doesn't make.

+Joe Del Vecchio yeah man this is still the culture too. So many people just recompiling twrp with minor modifications or recompiling a rom with no changes other than the tag unnofficial.

"Poor oversight on his part" but yet one of us calls out a kanger with 2000 donate links and we are banned.

+Damian W. so what if any pull does a RC have and what does it take to become a mod. I'm actually in conversation with a mod that I will not name but we go way back. Seems they need some balance in the mod structure so that what IMO is juvenile's aren't clouding the issues. I don't care about XDA that much but I would like the opportunity to get with some of the older mods there as to make the treatment and the way things are handled a little more realistic. Yes its a development forum and that should be what its policed for. Not kicking a good ROM team off the site for some colorful language or a bunch of people talking in a private conversation using racial slurs and child like behavior just because someone actually called them out in something they should doing themselves. I would serve out much more consequences on unprofessional conduct by some in a leadership and moderation role than for the Broken and Dirty Unicorns teams just telling it like it is.

They don't have any pull, it's just a title and it let's you hear about some things that other's can not. As for becoming a mod, it takes the approval of the higher authorities, you have to apply for the position, providing all the things asked of you like helpful post's, and so on. Then it goes before a group of people to approve it. It's much different than other forum's, I'm a mod for a couple of them and never applied, was asked if I wanted to based on my contribution and following rules and such. Those other forums don't break the rules they have made and enforce therefore it's a pleasure to be part of the team. Xda is not what it use to be, and if it is the same today as it's always been, then they must be getting lazy at hiding what is going on, and now that it's being seen by those that were not supposed to see it, it's brushed off like it's not a big deal and just let it go. So, it's just a title that other's can see, but it's just that, it's lost its respected meaning and has become something not to be so proud of.
