Ben-Hur: Charlton Heston or Ramón Novarro - which is your preference?

I read that someone's just written a new score for the 1925 version. That should be interesting!

You know how you can have more than one G+ page open at the same time and post as different IDs, like your personal page and your community page and your business page?

Can you do that on Twitter?

Yes, as long as you keep your identities in separate tabs or windows.

Yes, it is a bit of a mystery. Distance troubleshooting can have it's challenges, including the person with the problem becoming frustrated.

So later I will watch Ben-Hur (1959) for the umpteenth time.

My smart-aleck husband will say something like, 'do you think it's gonna end differently this time?'

True or not, how this made me laugh!

Chinglish
A friend went to Beijing recently and was given this brochure by the hotel. It is precious.
She is keeping it and reading it whenever she feels depressed.
Obviously, it has been translated directly, word for word from Mandarin to English.

Getting There:
Our representative will make you wait at the airport. The bus to the hotel runs along the lake shore. Soon you will feel pleasure in passing water. You will know that you are getting near the hotel, because you will go round the bend. The manager will await you in the entrance hall. He always tries to have intercourse with all new guests.

The Hotel:
This is a family hotel, so children are very welcome. We of course are always pleased to accept adultery. Highly skilled nurses are available in the evenings to put down your children. Guests are invited to conjugate in the bar and expose themselves to others. But please note that ladies are not allowed to have babies in the bar. We organize social games, so no guest is ever left alone to play with them self.

The Restaurant:
Our menus have been carefully chosen to be ordinary and unexciting. At dinner, our quartet will circulate from table to table, and fiddle with you.

Your Room:
Every room has excellent facilities for your private parts. In winter, every room is on heat. Each room has a balcony offering views of outstanding obscenity! .... You will not be disturbed by traffic noise, since the road between the hotel and the lake is used only by pederasts.

Bed:
Your bed has been made in accordance with local tradition. If you have any other ideas please ring for the chambermaid. Please take advantage of her.. She will be very pleased to squash your shirts, blouses and underwear. If asked, she will also squeeze your trousers.

Above All:
When you leave us at the end of your holiday, you will have no hope. You will struggle to forget it.

So I had another bright idea for the website. At least I think it's a bright idea.

What if we have a geeky/gadgets/novelty items page? Not just another 'buy my antiques' page, Lord knows there are enough of those already, but especially for the nerdy and quirky.

I think that would be fun.

Introduction

I'm a writer with more years’ experience in writing and editing than I admit to in public. I got into desktop publishing way early in the game, and moving into the digital space has seemed like a natural progression.

I spent more than 10 years in the corporate world, in methods analysis (analyzing the way people do their jobs and writing procedures), and was really good at it, but eventually decided to see if I could make a living doing more creative writing, and/or turning a hobby into a business.

I am also a specialist editor for hobbies at The Citizendium, the online encyclopaedia, and I served on the Editorial Council. I also writes extensively about antiques and is a qualified Fine Art and Antiques valuer.

I'm fun, kind, sarcastic and irreverent.

I'm always impressed by the quality of food and service at the Meridian Cafe. It's a lovely place to sit and have a good meal and a chat. I'm a local, but I would suggest that if you're travelling along the Sydney - Canberra corridor, it's worth the (very short) detour, and I recommend it as a place to break your journey. I'm a breakfast person, and I invariably have Alison's Eggs Benedict, which is excellent, but since I always choose that, I can't tell you how anything else is. For lunch, I like having one of the specials; the pastas are delicious. Our family's current favourite is the lamb burger, which is hard to beat. At $17 it is not cheap, but not out of the ordinary for a good restaurant, either. You can also do some browsing of art and antiques. These range from local artists to major Australian names. An antiques showroom is coming soon. All in all, a terrific place for a quality meal and relaxation.

Alan Weston is personable, honest, professional and creative - everything you could want in a sign maker. We've used Alan Weston Signs twice for our own business signage, and three years running for community projects run by the Tallong Community Focus Group. The street banners he made for the Tallong Apple Day had the whole town talking. An absolutely top notch professional!
