Interesting point of view, has the hotel industry lost it's way?  I think commenting on service at a high level is short sighted.  Different market segments prefer different service touch points, therefore hotels need to be more adaptable and recognize this.

Agreed, and that means training our front of the house staff needs a serious update/refresh.

I'm a Nikon/Fuji guy, but here's a great site to learn photo basics from Canon

At the the site you can play around with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to see how photos change.

Entrepreneurism is going down, if my impromptu surveys are to be trusted. Pay attention. The middle class is vanishing and the office buildings are emptying out. +james altucher has been warning about this for a while now. I'm seeing it, too.

Suzie Wotton made an excellent point; "All three content types [owned, paid, earned] increase reach, but it's the earned content in the form of guest comments that authenticates the message".  I agree with this 100%, because it takes just a handful of engaged individuals to encourage more engagement. This tells me we need to focus on our top online influencers, because we can count on them to engage and encourage.  Develop a top online influencer list, and keep these people happy.
Another important point included is that 'one you receive five reviews in Google, your star rating will be displayed in gold.  Keep this in mind.
And lastly, tagging imagery on social networks should never be forgotten, it's like adding a new page to your website and giving it a nofollow.
Great content +Daniel Edward Craig !

Good article +Rajesh Rajan , definitely evergreen content considering it was published a few years ago.  That in itself proves the importance of cultivating your loyal customers/fans/advocates, it's a mindset that won't change.

Interesting....

Organizational culture differs from country to country, but how does that affect the way offices are arranged?

In this interactive chart, researchers at Steelcase have identified six dimensions of workplace culture that shape an office’s social dynamics, drawn from their five-year 11-country study.

This is pretty interesting. I grew up in a eastern culture and now I work in a western one. Things are just not the same. It is great to see some of the European countries and their influences. Netherlands seems so open and easy going.

New Post - How to Rank: 25 Step SEO Master Blueprint

"Not long ago, I realized that 90% of what I read each doesn’t change what I actually do - that is, the basic work of ranking a web page higher on Google."

"To to simplify this process, I created this SEO blueprint... Think of it as an intermediate SEO instruction manual, for beginners."
If you’re like most SEOs, you spend hours each week reading the latest SEO tactics and search engine tidbits. We spend hours learning, but does 90% of it change what we actually do - that is, the basic work of ranking a web page for search? To lend a hand, let me introduce the 25 Step SEO Master Blueprint.

If you only track feedback from customers who speak up, you're missing the silent majority.

In the graph below, the blue line shows satisfaction scores based on opt-in feedback surveys – from people who actively sought out the “Contact Us” button. The yellow line shows satisfaction scores based on a small random sample of web visitors.

As you can see in the chart, the random sampling does a better job of measuring the wider range of customer experiences, rather than just the very happy and very unhappy customers who opted in.

Is it better to give positive feedback to let people know when they're doing well, or offer constructive criticism to help them when they're off track?

New research suggests that this is a trick question. They are both important, but the real question is — in what proportion? http://bit.ly/Zajelq

Introduction

I'm a hotelier who's been given the opportunity to collaborate with amazing people, and be challenged everyday.  The digital space fascinates, I'm intrigued by the fact that we will never stop learning how to be better our approach to online.

My biggest interest is educating hotels to implement unique experiences, and teaching them that our service no longer ends with the checkout.  Past guests can have a major impact on our online presence, and hotels have a social responsibility to engage and learn from them.

Great experience! Dr. Hallums carefully listened as I explained my injury, and he treated accordingly. He explained exactly how my injury occurred, and what I can do to prevent it moving forward. I love the downtown Wheaton location.
