How many people within your local authority talk about, or are consciously engaged with, LocalGov Digital?

At Bradford Council I could count on the fingers of one poorly-endowed hand the people who are regularly engaged with LocalGov Digital.

Maybe that is typical. But I would like more. I would like whole teams here to be engaged with you folks. Maybe that is unrealistic, and isn't the case elsewhere.

+Carl Haggerty I had reasonably good success promoting the original UnMentoring. I haven't promoted the new UnMentoring yet though. I wanted to wait to see how it worked so I knew what to tell people. But I will be promoting it internally soon.

Rewiring Local Democracy  -

Voter registration: we need to do a big push over the next month to get more people to confirm their details on the electoral register (or register full stop) by 1 December.

We have low numbers registered in some parts of our district and we might lose a constituency in the boundary review.

Is anybody doing anything locally in your areas, or nationally, that you are aware of, to target groups that are not on the electoral register? We have been asked to do some comms about this, and possibly even a video. But as this is not just a local problem here, there must be other authorities with similar problems.

Nationally I am aware of Hope Not Hate doing work around this, but we can't align ourselves with them because they have a political angle.

Hey Albert,

Could we have some reflection on providing a long term solution not a quick fix to a(nother) problem. This concept of running a brief one-off campaign is sooo 20th Century. e.g. Tell me yu don't think this guy is more than a bit indulgent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj1BYWR8yZQ&t=3m26s

Are you going to try and compete with this kind of imaginative campaigning? Not. (and he heads up the GCS for UK). If not, then I'm sure he'd lend you his 9ft purple teddy bear.

But that said. I'm at a loss for words. This is a "political angle"? http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/vrdrive/

What please me most about last weekend's #LocalGovCamp was who else was there from my city.
The thing about the 2015 LocalGovCamp that most pleased me is not something I did, or learnt, while I was there. What I'm most pleased about is who else I got to go along from Bradford. I was enthu...

We've started work on our new website. It would be good to get feedback from you wise people once we have something public to show. There is a prototype site, but it's only visible internally at the moment: http://newbradford.bradford.gov.uk/
We have publicly blogged about it though:
We have started work on a redesign of our main website. The site will have a new structure and a new layout. We want to make the new website work for local people as well as it possibly can. So, ...

Has anybody got any strong feelings either way on doing social media advertising in-house or using an advertising agency?

We haven't done much paid advertising on social media yet, but we feel we should be doing it regularly. Our corporate advertising contract currently includes social media.  So as things stand any social media advertising that we want to do would have to go through that agency.

I'm mainly thinking about boosted Facebook posts, promoted tweets and YouTube ads.

If you have experience of social media advertising, doing it directly yourself or through an agency, I'd like to hear from you.

This LocalGovDigital community was already my only reason to visit Google+. Now it seems like this type of community may actually become the only reason for Google+ to exist at all.

I am conscious, however, that only a fraction of the whole LGD community use Google+.
